Hyderabad: girl student sexually assaulted by principal's driver, claim parents; school faces action

A school in Hyderabad faced derecognition after a kindergarten girl student was allegedly sexually assaulted. Telangana Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy directed officials on 21 October 2022 to cancel recognition of the school.

The crime was uncovered after the girl complained to her mother about pain in her legs. Subsequently, it was found that a man had taken her to a room on the school premises and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

When the parents rushed to the school to enquire, the girl identified the man who had assaulted her. It turned out to be the driver of the school principal. Amid protests by parents and Opposition parties, the driver was arrested by police.

Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan sought a report from the TRS government on the incident.
