J&K: BJP leaders arrested for allegedly extorting money to get a man out of jail

A serious case with repercussions on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir has emerged from the Union Territory.

Two BJP leaders were arrested on April 21 for allegedly extorting money from a woman. The two politicians had allegedly promised to help get the woman's brother out of prison.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Rehman Tikri who is BJP's Bandipora district president, and sarpanch Mushtaq Ahmad.

The woman claimed that she had approached the duo for help in getting her brother released. Reacting to the development, BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur said that the law will take its course.
