MP: 16-yr-old girl gangraped, beaten up, robbed, say police; victim in hospital, 3 accused arrested

In a sickening incident in Madhya Pradesh, a 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped and beaten up by 6 persons, including 2 minor boys.

The incident occurred on 17 September 2022 in Rewa when the victim and a male friend had gone to a temple. The accused approached the victim and allegedly dragged her to a water body.

The girl was allegedly gangraped there, and then thrashed. They also took her mobile phone and anklet, according to police. The victim's condition deteriorated and she was rushed to a hospital.

Three of the accused were arrested by 18 September and police said that search was underway for the rest. An FIR has been filed under sections relating to gangrape, dacoity, criminal intimidation, and charges under the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
