Sidhu Moose Wala murder: accused escapes from Punjab police custody; manhunt for Deepak Tinu launched

Sidhu Moose Wala murder : In major embarrassment for Punjab authorities, a gangster accused in the murder case of Sidhu Moose Wala escaped from police custody. Deepak Tinu escaped from the custody of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) unit of the Mansa Police on the intervening night of October 1 and 2, 2022.

The alleged gangster had been brought from Goindwal Sahib jail in Tarn Taran to Mansa district for a different murder case probe when he managed to flee. Deepak Tinu was being taken from the Mansa CIA police station by CIA in-charge Pritpal Singh in his car when he escaped. Police said that the CIA in-charge did not have permission to take the gangster with him.

The CIA in-charge was subsequently dismissed from service. Punjab Police said they are coordinating with Haryana's Special Task Force and Delhi's Special Cell to capture Deepak Tinu.

Tinu is a close aide of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is also an accused in the Moose Wala case. Singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on 29 May 2022.
