Udaipur tailor murder: 2 Pakistani nationals named by NIA in chargesheet on Kanhaiya Lal's killing

Nearly 6 months after tailor Kanhaiya Lal was hacked to death in Rajasthan's Udaipur while the crime was recorded on camera, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a chargesheet in the case on 22 December 2022.

The NIA named 9 persons who are residents of Udaipur, and 2 individuals named Salman and Abu Ibrahim, who are residents of Pakistan's Karachi.

Kanhaiya was allegedly murdered on 28 June 2022 for supporting suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma over her comments on Muhammad, a historical figure considered a Prophet by Muslims.

The accused persons have reportedly been charged under sections 120B, 449, 302, 307, 324, 153(A), 153(B), 295(A) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Sections 16, 18 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Section 4/25 (1B)(b) of Arms Act.
