Production houses Yash Raj Films (YRF) and Posham Pa Pictures on Tuesday announced a creative partnership under which they will produce theatrical films starting next year.
YRF, one of the top banners of the country, has backed several diverse films including Kabhi Kabhie, Deewar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Veer-Zaara, Ek Tha Tiger, and the Dhoom 3 franchise. Posham Pa Pictures has garnered acclaim for Kaala Paani, Mamla Legal Hai, Home Shanti and "Jaadugar".
"India&rsquo;s biggest legacy media company, Yash Raj Films, announces an exciting creative partnership with Posham Pa Pictures, regarded as one of the most forward-thinking voices in Indian entertainment today. This collaboration will see the two jointly produce theatrical films starting 2025," according to a press release.

Hussain had been hospitalized for two weeks, with his condition deteriorating to the point of being admitted to the ICU. He is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola; his daughters, Anisa Qureshi &nbsp;and Isabella Qureshi; his brothers, Taufiq Qureshi and Fazal Qureshi; and his sister, Khurshid Aulia. Born on March 9, 1951, he was the son of tabla maestro Ustad Alla Rakha.
A Life of Musical Brilliance Widely regarded as the greatest tabla player of his generation, Hussain&rsquo;s illustrious career spanned six decades. Starting as a child prodigy at the age of seven, he collaborated with India&rsquo;s most celebrated artists, including Ravi Shankar, Ali Akbar Khan, and Shivkumar Sharma.

Hindi cinema is going through a lull phase but this churning will, hopefully, lead to something better as creative people always find a way, says actor Manoj Bajpayee.
In a year where the box office once again appears to be dominated by blockbusters from the South like "Kalki 2898 AD" and "Pushpa 2: The Rule", the successful business of "Stree 2", "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3", and "Singham Again" has given some hope to Bollywood.
Asked whether Hindi cinema was in "trouble", Bajpayee said that wasn't the case.
"... But it is forcing filmmakers to think differently. And there is nothing wrong with it. I think it is churning, it's a lull period. I'm hopeful that it will go back to its natural self very soon.
"I don't see it as a problem because creative people always find a way. It is a jolt, a shock. And, now they are thinking hard and trying to come together to find a solution to it. And they will find a solution," the actor told PTI in an interview during a visit to the news agency's headquarters.
Bajpayee said the horror comedy "Stree 2", which earned over Rs 800 crore at the box office, did "remarkable" business.
"That means people are somewhere willing to go to theatres but they want something else. And that 'something else', a filmmaker has to really innovate and think hard about... My films these days come onto OTT and they have an even bigger audience.
"Last year, my film 'Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai' amassed historical views on OTT. If we convert it into rupees (box office collection), then it would be called an all-time blockbuster. The same goes for 'Gulmohar'."
The National Award winner said mass audience always wants a hero and when theatres shut down during the pandemic, people stopped getting that from Hindi cinema but in the south, single screens have thrived.
"We always search for a hero in our films. In the changing times, people stopped getting their hero because there were many multiplexes. The South never let the multiplexes flourish and maintained unity. They knew that their cinema would survive only through mass audiences.
"But we (Hindi industry) changed because while multiplexes were coming up, an aspirational India was also emerging. They wanted their hero. The kind of heroes they got, who ruled for 20-30 years... During COVID, there was a shift as mass audiences were going to theatres in big numbers but the multiplex audience chose to sit at home and enjoy OTT."
Rising ticket costs could also be a factor in people choosing to stay at home and enjoy movies on the OTT, according to Bajpayee.
Citing the example of "Pushpa 2" star Allu Arjun, he said the Telugu actor is giving the audiences the kind of films they want.
"The person who is going to the theatres is a mass guy and he can't afford the ticket for a multiplex. Our mass audience can't go to the multiplex but even if they can go there, they want to see 'Pathaan', 'Jawan' or 'Animal'. The single screens are running packed and their audience sees their hero in Allu Arjun. He is giving them the kind of film that should be enjoyed in theatres," added the actor, who worked with Arjun in "Vedam" and "Happy".
Whether it is Allu Arjun, Jr NTR or Mahesh Babu, the audiences in the north are not new to these actors as they have been watching their Hindi-dubbed films for years now through satellite TV channels and streamers, the actor said.
"I did some Tamil and Telugu films during those days. One day someone told me that they liked my movie 'Khatron Ka Khiladi'. I wondered when I did a film titled 'Khatron Ka Khiladi'?' Later I realised that it was the name of my Telugu or Tamil films which were dubbed in Hindi," said Bajpayee, who has starred in Tamil movies "Anjaan" and "Samar" and Telugu titles "Prema Katha" and "Puli".
Bajpayee, who is friends with many Malayalam actors and filmmakers, said he wants to venture into Malayalam films.
"They are making very good films. But they are also aware of the fact that I don't know the language. So, they'll get me those roles that have very less Malayalam dialogues or a character who speaks Hindi, English or doesn't speak a word."

Diljit Dosanjh Advised to Avoid Alcohol-Related Songs During Chandigarh Concert

The advisory issued by the CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal on Thursday, specifically mentioned songs like 'Patiala Peg', '5 Tara', and 'Case' etc, cautioning against even altered versions that promote alcohol, drugs or violence.

Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) has advised singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, set to perform here on Saturday, to refrain from singing alcohol-themed songs during his live show, citing their adverse impact on children of impressionable age.
The advisory issued by the CCPCR chairperson Shipra Bansal on Thursday, specifically mentioned songs like 'Patiala Peg', '5 Tara', and 'Case' etc, cautioning against even altered versions that promote alcohol, drugs or violence.
"Avoid performing the songs i.E. Patiala Peg, 5 Tara, Case etc, even with twisted words in which alcohol, drugs and violence are promoted. These songs affect the children of impressionable age," the advisory read.
This follows a similar directive issued last month by the Telangana government during Dosanjh's live show in Hyderabad, where he was advised against promoting alcohol and drugs. The notice also restricted from inviting children on stage due to loud sounds and flashing lights.
The singer began the India leg of his Dil-Luminati Tour from Delhi in October this year.
In the Chandigarh advisory, the CCPCR chairperson said, "It has come to our notice that Diljit Dosanjh is going to perform in his live show scheduled for December 14, at Exhibition Ground, Sector-34, Chandigarh."
"After going through the representation received by the Commission, the CCPCR has decided to issue the following advisory in the best interest of the children," it said.
The advisory noted that as per the World Health Organization's (WHO) report, adults should not be exposed to sound with a peak pressure level above 140db (decibel).
"For children, the level is reduced to 120 dB. It is advisable to not invite children on stage during the live show where peak sound pressure level is above 120db which is harmful for children," the advisory said.
The commission's advisory also asked to ensure that people aged below 25 years are not served alcohol as it is which is punishable under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and other provisions of law.
"You are therefore requested to comply with the advisory issued by the commission in the best interest of children," it said, addressing the singer, event organisers and concerned authorities.
A copy of the advisory has also been forwarded to the Chandigarh Excise and Taxation Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police, among others for necessary action.
Meanwhile, a delegation led by Chandigarh BJP's former president Arun Sood met the Deputy Commissioner here on Wednesday demanding a change in venue for the concerts of Dosanjh and Punjabi rapper A.P Dhillon, scheduled for December 14 and 21, respectively.
Sood cited that a recent event at the Sector 34 ground here by rapper-singer Karan Aujla had led to traffic congestion which caused inconvenience for residents.
The delegation demanded that the upcoming concerts be shifted from Sector 34 to Sector 25 rally grounds to avoid inconvenience and hardships for locals.
Arun Sood said, "There has been a lot of anguish among residents and businessmen of Chandigarh, especially in sector 34 and surrounding sectors after the recent music show of Punjabi singer Karan Aujla at the exhibition ground."
He said that locals and businessmen of Chandigarh were affected by the rush of thousands of people, and their vehicles choking the city.
"We are not against the music concerts in the city, but our only concern is the venue," Sood said, adding that he himself is a big fan of Punjabi artists and music.

Popular singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has topped the UK list of the 'Top 50 Asian Celebrities in the World' previewed in London on Wednesday, following his mega live tour and box-office success.
The 40-year-old Punjabi star dethroned last year&rsquo;s topper, Shah Rukh Khan, and ranked ahead of international talent from the world of cinema, television, music, arts and literature celebrated in the 2024 edition of the list published by UK weekly &lsquo;Eastern Eye&rsquo; on Friday.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas came in fifth for balancing high-profile projects that ranged from movies to starting work on season two of mega-budget series &lsquo;Citadel&rsquo;; actor Vijay, who starred in the year&rsquo;s most successful Tamil movie and started a political party, is ranked sixth; and singer Arijit Singh seventh.
Australian actress Geraldine Viswanathan, Pakistani actress Hania Aamir and British actress Simone Ashley complete the top 10 for the year. The oldest star in the list is once again 82-year-old Amitabh Bachchan and the youngest, aged 17, is actress Nitanshi Goel for her impressive performance in India&rsquo;s official Oscar entry &lsquo;Laapataa Ladies&rsquo;.

Actor Mushtaq Khan, best known for his roles in films like "Welcome" and "Stree 2" was allegedly kidnapped under the pretext of being invited to an event in Meerut, police said on Wednesday. The actor managed to escape after being held captive for a day.
A complaint regarding the incident was filed by the actor's event manager, Shivam Yadav, at the Bijnor Kotwali police station on Tuesday, Bijnor Superintendent of Police Abhishek Kumar Jha said.
According to the complaint, one Rahul Saini contacted Khan on October 15 inviting him to be the chief guest at an event in Meerut and even paid him in advance. Saini also sent Khan a flight ticket for November 20, from Mumbai to Delhi.
Upon arriving at the Delhi airport, Khan was picked up by a car with a driver and two passengers. However, midway through the journey, he was transferred to a Scorpio vehicle, where two additional men joined, Yadav said in the complaint. When Khan protested, he was threatened and informed that he had been kidnapped.
According to the complaint, the kidnappers held Khan captive in the Chahsheeri locality of Bijnor and during this time Rs 2 lakh were transferred from his mobile.
On November 21, Khan managed to escape and made his way back to Mumbai.
The kidnappers made several purchases in Meerut and Muzaffarnagar and withdrew cash, amounting to approximately Rs 2 lakh, using Khan's phone, police said.
The Bijnor Police have registered a case against unidentified individuals under Section 364A (kidnapping for ransom) of the Bhartiya Nayaya Sanhita and formed multiple teams to locate the kidnappers and trace the Scorpio vehicle involved. The full details of the incident will be revealed soon, police added.
