In contrast, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav dismissed the impact of the Delhi election results on Bihar, asserting that the BJP would not be able to form a government in the state.&nbsp;
"There will be no impact. How can they form the government? Can the BJP form the government while we are here? The people have now recognised the BJP," Yadav told the media.
The Bihar Legislative Assembly election, which will cover all 243 constituencies, is slated for October or November this year, following the last election held in October-November 2020.

BJP demands cancellation of Sheesh Mahal&rsquo;s property merger, accusing Arvind Kejriwal of corruption. The party vows that the next Delhi CM won&rsquo;t stay in the controversial bungalow.

The BJP on Monday requested Lt Governor VK Saxena to cancel the merger of four properties with the "Sheesh Mahal" (6, Flagstaff Road) that was used by the party as a political weapon to target AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal over corruption issues during recent Assembly polls.&nbsp;
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said that the bungalow was expanded by merging four government properties and he has written to the Lt Governor VK Saxena for cancelling the amalgamation of those properties.
He said that the new government to be formed by the party will take a call regarding future use of the bungalow and added "The next Chief Minister of Delhi will not stay in it."&nbsp;
The reconstructed bungalow was the official residence of Arvind Kejriwal as Delhi Chief Minister from 2015 till October 2024 when he vacated it after resigning from the post under fire from the BJP over corruption charges.
Newly elected BJP MLA from Rohini, Vijendra Gupta, who was Leader of Opposition in the 7th Delhi Assembly dissolved last week, said that the Chief Minister of BJP will not live in the bungalow as it was under investigation over alleged irregularities.&nbsp;
Gupta said that the land of the demerged properties and used the land for other official purposes like the construction of government quarters.&nbsp;
The BJP for more than two years, more so during the Assembly election campaign, hit hard at Kejriwal levelling allegations of corruption including irregularities in the reconstruction of the bungalow and lavish interiors, high-end domestic goods and fixtures there.&nbsp;
Kejriwal transformed the bungalow into "an ultra-luxurious 'Sheesh Mahal' by "illegally annexing" neighbouring government properties, Gupta wrote to the LG.&nbsp;
"The scope of these unauthorized alterations is particularly concerning. What was meant to be a standard official residence has been transformed into a lavish complex spanning more than 50,000 square meters," he charged in the letter.&nbsp;
He said that the merged properties included eight Type-V flats at 45 and 47 Rajpur Road, and the two government bungalows (8-A and 8-B Flag Staff Road) with the 6, Flagstaff road bungalow.&nbsp;
"I urgently request your intervention to restore these properties to their original independent status and return 6-lag Staff Road to its previous area of less than 10,000 square meters," he said.&nbsp;
Gupta also requested the LG to expedite the ongoing investigation into these alleged violations, saying swift action is crucial for ensuring accountability and restoring public trust in government institutions.

Taking a dig at AAP's leadership, he added, "Their (AAP) meetings are taking place in Delhi, Kejriwal should have gone there (Punjab). Several of their MLAs are in contact with different parties. They will fall in such a manner and a number of people will leave the party. I would like to urge the high command that we desist from taking their MLAs and ministers."
When asked about reports suggesting that AAP MLAs were in touch with the BJP, Randhawa pointed to Mann's long-standing connection with Delhi. "If they are in touch with them, I think Punjab will be harmed in the future," he said.
Predicting political instability, he stated, "There will be mid-term polls. If a few leaders go to the BJP, then there will be bypolls. Bhagwant Mann has no control... So it is likely that there will be mid-term polls. If they (AAP MLAs) go, they will come in the Congress because the BJP has no future in Punjab."
Criticizing the Mann-led government, Randhawa asserted that Punjab needs a government that prioritizes the welfare of its people. "I need to ask Bhagwant Mann that there have been 12 hand-grenade attacks in Punjab, what has he done about it?" he questioned.

The Delhi Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) on Friday served a legal notice to AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, seeking details and evidence regarding his allegations that the BJP attempted to bribe his party candidates ahead of the Delhi Assembly election results.&nbsp;
The legal notice comes just a day before the counting of votes is scheduled to take place for the Delhi Assembly elections held on February 5.&nbsp;
The notice, delivered at Kejriwal&rsquo;s 5, Ferozeshah Road residence, has intensified the political tensions between AAP and the BJP, with the former calling it a politically motivated move.&nbsp;
The ACB&rsquo;s notice specifically refers to a post on X by Kejriwal accusing the BJP of offering bribes to 16 AAP candidates to switch sides.&nbsp;

The notice asks Kejriwal to confirm whether the tweet was made by him and provide detailed information on the alleged poaching attempts.&nbsp;
It also seeks the names of the 16 candidates who received phone calls, the phone numbers of those who contacted them and any supporting evidence to substantiate these claims.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Provide the evidence and proof to support the claim/allegations of the offer of a bribe levelled by you and your party members on various media/social media platforms,&rdquo; the ACB notice reads.&nbsp;
The notice also warns of potential legal action, asking Kejriwal to explain why those spreading such allegations should not be prosecuted for creating &ldquo;panic and unrest&rdquo; among the people of Delhi.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Explain as to why an appropriate legal action should not be taken against the persons spreading such information on media/social media platforms, which is tantamount to creating panic and unrest situations amongst the people of Delhi,&rdquo; the notice reads.&nbsp;
Earlier, high drama unfolded as AAP strongly criticised the ACB&rsquo;s action, calling it an attempt to intimidate the party ahead of the election results.&nbsp;
AAP&rsquo;s legal cell chief Sanjeev Nasiar alleged that the ACB initially had no legal notice and was sitting outside Kejriwal&rsquo;s house without clarity on their purpose.&nbsp;
&ldquo;They did not have any legal notice at first. After one-and-a-half hours, they served us with a notice. This drama is orchestrated by the LG office in collusion with the BJP. The officers were under pressure,&rdquo; Nasiar claimed.&nbsp;
AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh backed these allegations, stating that more than 16 AAP candidates had been approached by unidentified individuals attempting to lure them away from the party.&nbsp;
&ldquo;We have already released the phone number of one such instance and are now filing a complaint. I challenge the BJP to take action against at least one of them,&rdquo; Singh said.&nbsp;
The BJP, however, dismissed AAP&rsquo;s accusations, labelling them as baseless and an attempt to deflect attention from the party&rsquo;s internal troubles.&nbsp;
The controversy erupted after Delhi BJP general secretary Vishnu Mittal submitted a representation to Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena, urging action against AAP for allegedly spreading misinformation about poaching attempts.

"Some agencies are showing that the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 55 seats. In the last two hours, 16 of our candidates have received calls that if they leave AAP and join their party, they will be made ministers and given Rs 15 crore each," Mr. Kejriwal wrote in Hindi.
He also cast doubt on the exit polls predicting a BJP victory.
"If they are indeed winning more than 55 seats, why are they calling up our candidates? These fake surveys are a conspiracy to create an atmosphere to break AAP candidates. But not a single one of them will switch sides," he added.
Delhi Chief Minister and AAP candidate from Kalkaji, Atishi, also spoke out against the alleged attempts to poach candidates, questioning the BJP&rsquo;s confidence.
"If the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 50 seats, then why are they trying to break our candidates by contacting them?" she posted on X.

"In five years between Vidhan Sabha 2019 and Lok Sabha 2024 elections, 32 lakh voters were added to the electoral rolls in Maharashtra. However, in a period of five months between Lok Sabha 2024 and Vidhan Sabha 2024, 39 lakh new voters were added. The question is: who are these 39 lakh people?"
Gandhi also pointed out a statistical inconsistency, stating that Maharashtra's adult population, as per government records, stood at 9.54 crores, while the Election Commission's data indicated a higher number of registered voters than the total adult population.&nbsp;
"According to the government, the adult population of Maharashtra is 9.54 crores. According to the Election Commission, there are more voters in Maharashtra than people in the state. Somehow, voters were suddenly added in Maharashtra," he remarked.
Further, he noted that the number of votes received by Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP-SCP remained consistent across both elections. "We got the same amount of votes. Congress vote in Lok Sabha 2024 in a constituency is 1.36 lakh votes and in Vidhan Sabha, we get 1.34 lakh," he said.&nbsp;
However, he pointed out that 35,000 new voters were added in certain constituencies, which helped the BJP secure victory in the Assembly elections.&nbsp;
"BJP in Lok Sabha gets 1.9 lakh votes, and then in Vidhan Sabha, they get 1.75 lakh votes. Most of those voters who provided the BJP their victory come from those 35,000 new voters who have been added. It is the case in multiple constituencies," he asserted.
Gandhi demanded that the Election Commission provide the voter lists for both the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.&nbsp;

"There are many, many, many voters that have been deleted. Voters who are in one booth have been transferred to another booth. Most of these voters come from Dalit communities, tribal communities, and minority communities... We have made repeated requests to the Election Commission. They have not answered us. Questioning the BJP&rsquo;s confidence in winning, he added, &ldquo;If they are indeed winning more than 55 seats, why are they calling up our candidates? These fake surveys are a conspiracy to create an atmosphere to break AAP candidates. But not a single one of them will switch sides.&rdquo;
<h3>AAP leaders back Kejriwal&rsquo;s claim</h3>
Supporting Kejriwal&rsquo;s allegations, AAP candidate from Sultanpur Majra and Delhi minister Mukesh Ahlawat said he was personally approached with an offer to switch parties.

<h3>BJP dismisses claims, warns of legal action</h3>
Denying the allegations, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva accused the AAP of fabricating claims out of &ldquo;frustration&rdquo; over an impending loss.
&ldquo;Sanjay Singh should either retract his allegations and tender an apology or face legal action,&rdquo; Sachdeva said.
&ldquo;He should not forget that his party leader, (former) Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, is already facing a defamation case for making similar false allegations.&rdquo;
Singh, however, insisted that AAP has advised its candidates to record such calls and use spy cameras to document any poaching attempts.
Chief Minister Atishi, AAP&rsquo;s candidate from Kalkaji, also weighed in, questioning the BJP&rsquo;s alleged attempts to influence candidates. &ldquo;If the abusive party (BJP) is getting more than 50 seats, then why are they trying to break our candidates by contacting them?&rdquo; she asked in a post on X.
She further claimed that exit polls predicting a BJP victory were a deliberate attempt to demoralize AAP candidates.
With polling for all 70 Assembly seats completed on Wednesday, the focus now shifts to the results on Saturday, which will determine whether AAP secures a third consecutive term or if the BJP ends its 27-year-long wait to govern the capital.

Expressing confidence in his victory, Verma confidently predicted a major defeat for AAP's Arvind Kejriwal, stating, "We will win by a margin of more than 20,000 votes. It could even go up to 25,000-26,000. Arvind Kejriwal will lose his deposit here and will come third."

"Aam Aadmi Party is heading to a historic victory and BJP is heading towards its worst defeat," Kejriwal declared. "BJP will use Delhi Police to commit hooliganism. BJP workers will go to poor people and tell them that they are from the Election Commission and will put ink on their finger and tell them to take Rs 3,000 and cast their vote."
Kejriwal further accused BJP of misleading people in slum areas, alleging, "BJP people are going to slums and saying that people from the Election Commission are coming to get your vote cast on the night before the elections. All of them are cheating and lying. The Election Commission does not come to your home to conduct voting."
Meanwhile, AAP&rsquo;s Manish Sisodia expressed confidence in the public&rsquo;s rejection of BJP's tactics, stating, "The public will answer BJP's hooliganism with their votes. Baba Saheb made the people (Public) the masters by creating a democratic system. Now BJP is threatening the people. They are threatening the workers and leaders of Aam Aadmi Party. Let me tell the BJP people, we are the disciples of Baba Saheb and Bhagat Singh ji, we are not going to be scared of your hooliganism. The public has made up its mind to teach you a lesson and make Kejriwal the Chief Minister again."
As the campaigning period concludes on Monday, the Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with results to be declared on February 8.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the BJP-led Centre and the Delhi Police of conspiring to "kill" its supremo Arvind Kejriwal and urged the Election Commission to restore his security cover provided by the Punjab Police that was withdrawn.
There was no immediate reaction from the BJP or the Delhi Police to the allegation.
Addressing a press conference here, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and her Punjab counterpart, Bhagwant Mann, said they have written to the EC demanding "fair grounds" to the AAP in the February 5 Delhi Assembly polls and the restoration of Kejriwal's security cover given by the Punjab Police, along with an audit of "life-threatening" attacks on him.
They alleged that the Delhi Police, which comes under the Centre, has turned a blind eye on the alleged attacks on Kejriwal in accordance with Union Home Minister Amit Shah's order.
"There are two players involved in this conspiracy to kill Kejriwalji -- the BJP and the Delhi Police. They are both conspiring to end Kejriwal's life. Attacks have been attempted on him one after the other. In October (last year), an attack was made on Kejriwal. Upon investigation by us, it was found that the attackers were BJP workers, but police took no action," Atishi alleged.
"We have written to the EC demanding that Kejriwal's security be restored. We do not trust the Delhi Police as it is under Amit Shah's control," she added.
The AAP leaders alleged that resorting to "dirty politics" ahead of the Delhi polls, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has conspired to get Kejriwal's security removed.

Atishi requested the transfer of the police officers involved, citing their attempts to pressure AAP volunteers into making false statements.
In her letter, Atishi explained that she had filed complaints regarding the intimidation on January 21 and 22. She attached both complaints to her letter, highlighting that on January 21, she received a notice under Section 94 BNSS from the SHO of Govindpuri concerning her complaint.&nbsp;

However, instead of investigating, she claims that police officers began pressuring AAP volunteers to retract their statements.
&ldquo;Atishi&rsquo;s letter further detailed the actions of the police officers, including SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan, who reportedly tried to coerce volunteers into signing false statements that claimed no intimidation or violence had occurred. These officers allegedly met with volunteers such as Vijeta, Rekha Bassi, and Deepa Deol, dictated false statements to them, and then pressured them to sign," the letter said.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that her volunteers were willing to give statements in the presence of their legal representatives, but they were being forced to sign incomplete and false documents.&nbsp;
When the volunteers refused, the police allegedly tore up their objections. Atishi expressed concerns over the collusion of the local police officers and called for their immediate transfer, specifically requesting that SHO Dharamveer, Inspector Sushil Sharma, and Constable Jai Bhagwan be reassigned out of the area.
Earlier this week, Atishi had also called for the deployment of paramilitary forces in Kalkaji to ensure the safety of voters and party workers as the Delhi Assembly elections draw near. The elections are set for February 5, with the vote counting scheduled for February 8, amid escalating tensions between the AAP and BJP.

Explaining the rationale behind the move, Singh remarked that the BJP would not voluntarily talk about their achievements, so AAP decided to showcase it for them.&nbsp;
Taking a swipe at the BJP-led Central government, Singh stated that the book contained everything about the unfulfilled promises made by BJP, including commitments on providing permanent housing, doubling minimum support prices (MSPs) for farmers, strengthening the rupee, and ensuring border security.
&ldquo;Modi ji had made many promises after becoming the Prime Minister. He had said that by 15th August 2022, everyone will get a permanent house, farmers will get MSP, the rupee will be strengthened, the border will be protected... Regarding Delhi, he had said that permanent registry will be given to those living in slums. The BJP people could not tell what achievements have been made in those promises, we are releasing those achievements,&rdquo; Singh said.
He further added, &ldquo;We are releasing a book to tell what achievements the BJP has made as they are not ready to tell about it... Everything is written in this book, whether it&rsquo;s about getting Rs 15 lakhs in your account, permanent houses, lowering petrol prices to Rs 40, increasing the MSPs for farmers...&rdquo;
Sanjay Singh also criticized BJP leader Anurag Thakur, accusing him of lacking the moral authority to lecture on patriotism. He alleged that BJP leaders had historically supported divisive forces and made questionable decisions.&nbsp;
&ldquo;Those who bow their heads at Jinnah&rsquo;s grave should not talk about patriotism. BJP&rsquo;s forefathers had supported the British in the freedom movement, formed the government with those with Muslim League... they formed government with party who supported Afzal Guru... Will Anurag Thakur, a gunman type leader, teach us patriotism? Do we need to hear about patriotism from Modi who called the ISI and got Pathankot investigated? In a surprising turn, Singh also commented on AAP&rsquo;s ally in the INDIA bloc, the Congress party, dismissing their role in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. Despite the two parties working together in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, they will contest the Delhi elections separately.&nbsp;
Singh remarked, &ldquo;Congress party is not a player in Delhi elections. They make allegations every day. Focus on your election and wait for the result.&rdquo;

Amritpal Singh, the Member of Parliament (MP) representing Khadoor Sahib in Punjab, who is currently imprisoned in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act (NSA), has moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court with a petition.&nbsp;
He is requesting permission to attend the ongoing Parliament session and participate in the Republic Day celebrations on January 26.
In his petition, Singh has argued that his extended absence is preventing the voice of his 19 lakh constituents from being heard in Parliament. He has also claimed that his detention is politically motivated, designed to stifle his growing popularity.&nbsp;
Singh's detention order was first issued in March 2023 by the Deputy Magistrate of Amritsar and has since been extended on multiple occasions. A new detention order for March 2024 was issued citing social media activity and alleged contraband found in the jail as justifications. Singh, however, has labelled these reasons as weak and unconstitutional.
The Khadoor Sahib MP further argues that his detention infringes upon his constitutional rights and deprives his constituents of proper representation. As part of his legal challenge, he has requested the court to grant him interim release and make a swift decision on the matter.
On January 9, Singh's father, Tarsem Singh, voiced his concerns regarding the imposition of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against his son, accusing the government of conspiring to prevent the jailed MP&rsquo;s family from launching a political party.&nbsp;
In an interview with ANI, he stated, "Now when the imposition of NSA on him comes to an end, they already imposed UAPA. Now when we are planning to launch a political party, it is a conspiracy to stop us. Bhagwant Mann's anti-Sikh mindset is being exposed. Without any proof or investigation, such things are being done to defame Amritpal."&nbsp;
The Faridkot Police Superintendent confirmed that UAPA charges had indeed been invoked against Singh.

Portfolios have been assigned to the seven new ministers who took oath on Wednesday in Bihar, as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar reshuffled his Cabinet in preparation for the upcoming Assembly elections.
Health Minister Mangal Pandey has been given additional charge of the Law Department, while Information Technology has been reassigned from Santosh Suman, the son of HAM(S) chief Jitan Ram Manjhi.
Krishna Kumar Mantoo of the BJP will now head the Information Technology Department, while Suman will continue handling Minor Water Resources.
Vijay Mandal, an MLA from Sikti, has been given the Disaster Management Department, whereas Sanjay Saraogi (Darbhanga) has been entrusted with the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. The Land and Revenue Department was previously under state BJP chief Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, who stepped down in adherence to the party&rsquo;s 'one person, one post' policy.
Additionally, Biharsharif MLA Sunil Singh has been appointed as the Forest, Environment, and Climate Change Minister. Sahebganj MLA Raju Singh will oversee the Tourism Department, while Motilal Prasad has been given charge of the Arts and Culture Department.
With this Cabinet expansion, the total number of ministers has reached 36, the maximum limit allowed in Bihar.
All seven newly inducted ministers belong to the BJP, increasing the party&rsquo;s total ministerial strength to 21 in the state. Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s JD(U) has 13 ministers, while Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) has one, along with one independent minister.
The ministers come from regions where the BJP holds a strong political presence, with six out of the seven being from North Bihar. The BJP has also maintained a caste balance in its selections.
While Raju Singh and Jibesh Kumar represent the upper-caste Rajput and Bhumihar communities, Vijay Mandal and Motilal Prasad belong to the Extremely Backward Classes (EBCs). Mantoo hails from Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s Kurmi community, Sunil Kumar is from the Kushwaha community, and Sanjay Saraogi is an OBC leader.

He further said that a comparison between funds allocated under the UPA and NDA governments proves that Tamil Nadu faced actual injustice during the UPA regime.
Taking a dig at DMK, Shah remarked, "Sometimes it feels as if DMK has let all the corrupts in the society join DMK through a membership drive. MK Stalin and his son are raising several issues to deviate from real concerns. Today, they are going to have a meeting regarding delimitation. PM Modi has made it clear that even after delimitation, the seats of none of the states in the South will be decreased."
Shah also declared that the BJP will form a government in Tamil Nadu in 2026 under the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). He pledged to end corruption, nepotism, and anti-India activities in the state.

This new government will usher in a new era for Tamil Nadu. We will put an end to nepotism in the state. Corruption will be eradicated in Tamil Nadu. We are committed to removing individuals involved in anti-India activities from Tamil Nadu," he asserted.
Shah's visit to Tamil Nadu included the inauguration of BJP district offices in Coimbatore, Tiruvannamalai, and Ramanathapuram.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to expand his cabinet on Wednesday, ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.&nbsp;
The expansion, scheduled for 4 PM, will see the induction of new ministers from his party, Janata Dal (United), as well as ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), according to ANI. Four MLAs are expected to take ministerial oaths, including two from JD(U).
In a significant development, Bihar Revenue Minister and BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal has announced his resignation, aligning with the party's "One Person, One Post" policy.&nbsp;
Expressing gratitude for his role, Jaiswal stated, "I am going to resign from the post of Revenue Minister. 'One person, one post' is the principle on which the party works. I am thankful that the central leadership has given me the responsibility of the party's state unit."&nbsp;
Jaiswal, who was appointed BJP's Bihar state president on January 18, hinted at further cabinet reshuffling following his resignation, with the expansion set to take place before the elections later this year.
Commenting on the upcoming cabinet expansion, Jaiswal remarked, "It is the prerogative of the Chief Minister."&nbsp;
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s son, Nishant Kumar, has urged voters to support his father in the upcoming elections, emphasizing his contributions to Bihar's development.&nbsp;
"I urge the people of Bihar to vote for Bihar CM Nitish Kumar as he has done a lot of development in the state. Last time, people gave 43 seats. The public should ensure that we win more seats in the elections so that we can continue the pace of development," Nishant Kumar said.&nbsp;
He also encouraged JD(U) workers to promote Nitish Kumar&rsquo;s achievements from the past 19 years among the people of Bihar.
