India's UPI payments now accepted in seven countries: Sri Lanka, Mauritius added to list

India's Unified Payments Interface or UPI has extended its reach to seven countries following its launch in Sri Lanka and Mauritius.

The Government of India's citizen engagement platform, MyGovIndia, released a world map highlighting these countries, which now include France, UAE, Singapore, Bhutan, and Nepal along with the latest additions Sri Lanka and Mauritius, where Indians can use UPI for payments.

This move reflects India's proactive approach in globalizing UPI, as demonstrated previously at G20 meetings, where delegates were able to experience real time transactions over the phone.
