      Mumbai Coastal Road's second phase set to open, promising relief for commuters

      Providing relief to residents of Mumbai, the second phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road project is scheduled for inauguration on Monday, with the north-bound carriageway from Marine Drive up to Haji Ali set to open to traffic starting June 11.

      The tunnel will operate from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, and will be closed on weekends for ongoing work. The new road aims to reduce travel time between south Mumbai and the western suburbs by 70% and decrease fuel consumption by 34%.

      The project encompasses a 10.58-kilometer stretch connecting Mumbai and Worli, featuring an eight-lane road with a six-lane tunnel below. Designated lanes for buses will be marked on both the road and the tunnel.
