Xiaomi eyes festive season and Amazon's Freedom sale to boost its sales

Xiaomi, a prominent smartphone manufacturer, is gearing up for a prosperous festive season, eyeing significant sales opportunities in the upcoming Amazon Great Freedom Festival Sale scheduled for August.

With the festive season coinciding with the cricket World Cup, Xiaomi India anticipates a surge in sales during the second half of the year.

At the launch event of the Xiaomi Redmi 12 series, Muralikrishnan B, Xiaomi India President, highlighted positive signs amid recent volume declines, sparking optimism for the company's future.

The focus on Redmi 12 series and 5G technology aims to boost sales in the affordable segment, despite challenges faced during the first quarter. The Amazon sale, offering up to 80% discounts, further fuels Xiaomi's expectations for a successful festive sales season

Xiaomi's Redmi 12 Series and 5G Transition

During the launch event, Xiaomi unveiled its new Redmi 12 series smartphones with 4G and 5G variants. The company has targeted the affordable segment, which witnessed a 34% decline in shipments during the first quarter of 2023. Xiaomi faced a 44% year-on-year decline during the same period, which marked the largest decline ever recorded for the brand.

Muralikrishnan mentioned that the Redmi 12 5G model is expected to drive more users towards adopting 5G in the ₹10,000- ₹15,000 price range.

Xiaomi's Target: The Sub ₹10,000 Segment

The sub ₹10,000 segment comprises a substantial number of first-time smartphone users and currently contributes to almost 30% of the overall market. Muralikrishnan sees this segment as a driving force in fueling the demand for 4G smartphones in the country.
