Mumbai: 18-yr-old woman murdered, suspect security guard found dead on train tracks, say police

In a distressing incident, an 18-year-old college student was found allegedly murdered in Mumbai on June 6, 2023.

The suspect in the case - a security guard - was later found dead on railway tracks. Police believe that the woman may have been sexually assaulted before the murder.

She went missing on June 6, with her hostel room in south Mumbai's Churchgate locked from the outside. A police team entered the room and found her with a 'dupatta', or stole, wrapped around her neck.

She was a student at a government polytechnic college.

An FIR for murder was registered at the Marine Drive police station and further probe was on.
