On this episode of the EJ Tech Show, we take a closer look at the Vivo T1 5G smartphone in our review, along with all the highlights from Samsung's first big event of the year--Galaxy Unpacked 2022.

Vivo T1 5G Review

The new Vivo T1 5G is the latest 5G smartphone from the brand, and it gets a quite a few features for a compelling price. Vivo T1 5G specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G processor, up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Vivo T1 5G display is a 6.58-inch IPS LCD screen with an FHD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. On the back, the Vivo T1 5G features a 50MP triple camera setup, and on the front, there's a 16MP sensor. The Vivo T1 5G battery is 5,000mAh, and it gets 18W fast charging with and 18W charging adaptor in the box. Vivo T1 5G India price starts from ₹15,990 for the 4GB RAM model with 128GB storage, and costs ₹19,990 for the 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant.

Galaxy Unpacked 2022 Highlights

Samsung's highly-anticipated Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event saw the launch of its brand new flagship products, including the latest S22 series of smartphones and the new Tab S8 series of Android tablets.

The Galaxy S22 series features three devices--the S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. All three models get some common features, like Android 12 with OneUI 4.1, IP68 dust and water resistance, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, built on the 4nm process.

The Galaxy S22 Ultra sports a new Galaxy Note-like design, with a box-like frame and squared edges. The device also incorporates an S-Pen inside the body and features up to 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage. There's a 6.8-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz display, and a 108MP quad rear camera setup. Keeping the lights on is a 5,000mAh battery, with 45W wired fast charging support.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22+ retain much of the design language of their previous iterations, and both come with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. On the front, the Galaxy S22 sports a 6.1-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X 120Hz display, while the Galaxy S22+ features the same screen, in a larger 6.6-inch size. For images and videos, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ sport 50MP triple rear camera setups with 10MP front-facing cameras. The Galaxy S22 houses a 3,700mAh battery with up to 25W wired fast charging, while the larger S22+ houses a 4,500mAh battery with up to 45W wired fast charging.

Prices for the Galaxy S22 and S22+ start at $799 and $999 respectively, for their 8GB RAM + 128GB storage models. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, on the other hand, is priced starting at $1,099 for its 8GB RAM + 128GB storage model. Indian pricing and availability have not been revealed, but interested buyers can pre-reserve the devices for an amount of ₹1,999.

Apart from its flagship S-series smartphones, Samsung also unveiled its new Galaxy Tab S8 series of Android tablets, comprising three models--the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8.

The Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra features a 14.6-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2960 x 1848 resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The tablet is powered by the Exynos 2200 chipset, and features up to 16GB RAM, and up to 512GB storage, which is also expandable up to 1TB through the microSD card slot. For optics, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra features a dual rear camera setup, with a 13MP main camera and a 6MP ultra-wide camera. The tablet also sports two cameras on the front, with a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. Keeping the lights on is an 11,200mAh battery, with 45W fast charging support. The tablet also sports a quad stereo speaker setup tuned by AKG, with Dolby Atmos support. It gets 3 microphones for audio recording, and comes with an S-Pen in the box, like the rest of the series.

In comparison, the Galaxy Tab S8+ features a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2800 x 1752 resolution, while the Galaxy Tab S8 gets an 11-inch Super AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1600 resolution. Both tablets support a 120Hz refresh rate and run on the Exynos 2200 chipset, along with up to 12GB RAM, and up to 256GB storage that is expandable. They also get dual rear cameras with a 13MP main camera and a 6MP ultra-wide camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera on the front. The Galaxy Tab S8+ gets a 10,900mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S8 gets an 8,000mAh battery with both supporting 45W fast charging.

In the US, the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra series is priced starting at $1,099 for the 8GB + 128GB model. The Galaxy Tab S8+ is priced starting at $899 for the 8GB + 128GB variant, while the Galaxy Tab S8 starts at $699 for the 8GB + 128GB model. Official details for India pricing and availability are yet to be announced.
