Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, released in cinemas worldwide on June 15 and fans are disappointed with the magnum opus. Several netizens have criticised the film’s poor VFX and cringe dialogues.

Now, a plea has been filed against the mythological drama in Delhi Court for hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community. The plea alleges that the film has mocked 'Ramayana', a Hindu epic and our culture.

The plea was filed by Vishnu Gupta, National President of the Hindu Sena.

The plea seeks directions to remove or rectify the objectionable scenes related to the Hindu gods Ram, Ravana, Sita and Hanuman. It alleges that the depiction of these deities in the film is inaccurate and inappropriate.

‘The depiction of characters is contrary to the description of Hindu religious characters, as described in the Ramayana, authored by Maharishi Valmiki and in the Ramcharitmanas authored by Saint Tulsidas,’ the plea says.

The plea also raised objection to the bearded look of Saif Ali Khan’s character Lord Ravana. It says the depiction has hurt Hindu sentiments, as he is shown making a ‘ghastly’ face.

‘Hindu Brahmin Ravana is shown making a ghastly face in a wrong manner which is an absolute insult to Hindu civilisation,’ the plea read.

It further alleged that scenes related to Ravana in the film are an absolute distortion of facts.
