<p>Junaid Khan, son of Bollywood legend Aamir Khan and producer Reena Dutta, is carving his niche in acting by seamlessly blending his passion for theatre and cinema. The actor, who made his debut in the period drama Maharaj in 2024, has pledged to pursue both mediums throughout his career, as each brings unique satisfaction.</p>
<p>"I fell in love with theatre at 16. It helped me overcome my shyness and gave me the freedom to perform and even make a fool of myself," Junaid shared in an interview with PTI. With over 100 shows spanning seven to eight plays under his belt, he credits theatre for shaping his craft.</p>
<p>Junaid, who describes himself as &ldquo;genre-agnostic,&rdquo; is awaiting the release of his second film Loveyapa, a romantic comedy directed by Advait Chandan and co-starring Khushi Kapoor. Produced by Phantom Studios and AGS Entertainment, the film is set to hit theatres on February 7. This marks Junaid&rsquo;s first theatrical release, as Maharaj premiered directly on Netflix.</p>
<p>Loveyapa is described as a &ldquo;tangled tale of love and its complications,&rdquo; where secrets unravel when a young couple, played by Junaid and Khushi, exchange smartphones. Reflecting on the film, Junaid said, &ldquo;This was a very different experience for me. The team had a mix of fresh talent, and I hope I&rsquo;ve grown as an artist from Maharaj to Loveyapa.&rdquo;</p>
<p>Junaid fondly recalled his days as a movie buff at Mumbai&rsquo;s single-screen theatres, such as Eros and Regal, and expressed his excitement about Loveyapa hitting cinemas. &ldquo;Watching films in a theatre is a unique experience,&rdquo; he said.</p>
<p>He also shared how his father, Aamir Khan, has been supportive of his journey. "Papa is juggling five productions and his own film, but he has been around to support Loveyapa," Junaid said, adding that the family hasn&rsquo;t finalized plans for Aamir&rsquo;s 60th birthday, given his unpredictable schedule.</p>
<p>Looking ahead, Junaid has another project lined up, Ek Din, opposite Sai Pallavi. Directed by newcomer Sunil Pandey and produced by Aamir Khan, the film promises to further showcase Junaid&rsquo;s versatility. &ldquo;Working with Sai was fantastic. She has immense experience and is incredible at what she does,&rdquo; he said.</p>

<p>Former MLA Zeeshan Siddique has named several builders and politicians in his statement to the police, urging them to investigate issues surrounding slum redevelopment projects in Mumbai&rsquo;s Bandra during the probe into the murder of his father, NCP leader Baba Siddique.</p>
<p>Baba Siddique, a former state minister, was shot dead by three assailants on October 12, 2024, outside his son&rsquo;s office in Bandra East. Zeeshan, in his statement, alleged that his father often faced pressure and threats from developers regarding redevelopment projects in the area.</p>
<p>The statement, included in a 4,500-page chargesheet filed before a special MCOCA court, mentions that Baba Siddique had been in contact with various developers, including BJP worker Mohit Kambhoj, who reportedly reached out to him via WhatsApp on the day of the murder to discuss a project by Mundra Builders.</p>
<p>Zeeshan also revealed that a developer had once used abusive language against his father during a meeting about an SRA redevelopment project. He called for a detailed investigation into all individuals linked to such incidents.</p>
<p>&ldquo;My father and I were continuously fighting for the rights of slum dwellers in Bandra, and a false case was once registered against me for objecting to a redevelopment project,&rdquo; Zeeshan stated. He added that his father habitually documented his daily work in a diary, which could provide crucial leads.</p>
<p>The chargesheet names 26 arrested individuals, all booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), while three accused &mdash; Shubham Lonkar, Yasin Akhtar, and Anmol Bishnoi &mdash; remain wanted.</p>

<p>Veteran writer Javed Akhtar on Friday expressed relief over Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan&rsquo;s recovery after a knife attack at his Bandra residence last week.</p>
<p>&ldquo;All of us were extremely concerned. I&rsquo;m happy he has come back from the hospital,&rdquo; Akhtar said while attending the convocation ceremony at Whistling Woods International, a film institute founded by Subhash Ghai.</p>
<p>Khan, 54, sustained multiple stab wounds during an attempted robbery in his 12th-floor apartment and underwent two surgeries at Lilavati Hospital. He was discharged on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Police arrested the assailant, a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national identified as Shareeful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, who entered India illegally last year and assumed the alias Vijay Das.</p>
<p>At the convocation, Javed Akhtar and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur were honoured with the Maestro Awards for their exceptional contributions to storytelling, cinema, and culture. Speaking to the graduating Class of 2024, Akhtar emphasised the value of formal film education in today&rsquo;s industry.</p>
<p>&ldquo;We didn&rsquo;t have institutions like Whistling Woods in our time. Most of what we learned was on the job, picking it up from the sets,&rdquo; he shared. He advised students to prepare for the challenges of translating knowledge into success in the real world.</p>
<p>&ldquo;There&rsquo;s a difference between college and reality. They&rsquo;ve gained knowledge here, but now they must prove their calibre,&rdquo; he said, encouraging the graduates to rise to the challenge.</p>

<p>A court in Andheri has sentenced filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma to three months imprisonment in connection with a cheque bounce case. Judicial Magistrate (First Class) YP Pujari delivered the verdict on Tuesday under the provisions of the Negotiable Instruments Act.</p>
<p>The court has also directed Varma to pay Rs 3,72,219 as compensation to the complainant within three months. However, since Varma was not present during the proceedings, a standing non-bailable arrest warrant was issued for the execution of the sentence as per the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC).</p>
<p>The case stems from a complaint filed in 2018 against Varma's firm. Varma was previously granted bail in April 2022 with a cash security of Rs 5,000. Further details of the court&rsquo;s order are awaited.</p>

<p>Tripathy lauded Shah Rukh&rsquo;s unique acting style, noting its originality and mass appeal. "The style Shah Rukh discovered for himself was new, unique, and independent. Crores have accepted it. His strong belief in himself is what makes him brilliant," he said.</p>
<p>Reflecting on Shah Rukh&rsquo;s grit, Tripathy praised the actor&rsquo;s resilience in navigating the complexities of the entertainment industry. "It takes guts to stand out in a maze like this. His self-belief is truly commendable," he added.</p>
<p>Ahead of the 25th edition of Bharat Rang Mahotsav, NSD's flagship theatre festival starting January 28, Tripathy shared that the event will feature over 200 performances, including 10 international productions, in 10 Indian cities and overseas locations like Colombo and Kathmandu.</p>
<p>Tripathy, known for his work in acclaimed productions like Samudra Manthan and Taj Mahal Ka Tender as well as roles in films like Talvar and web series like Farzi, said it would be a privilege if Shah Rukh visited NSD as a guest, given his theatre background. "It would be our good fortune," he noted.</p>

<p>Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" is set to re-release in theatres on January 3, 2025.</p>
<p>Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film was produced under Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and also featured Aditya Roy Kapur and Kalki Koechlin. The film had its original release on May 31, 2013.</p>
<p>According to a press release, "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani", which went on to have a great box office in 2013, will be released on January 3 across 140 PVR INOX Cinemas in 46 cities.</p>
<p>Johar said "Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani" is a perfect film to start the new year. &ldquo;'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' holds a special place in the heart of Dharma Productions. <p>Filmmaker Laxman Utekar announced on Monday that the "lezim" dance scene from his upcoming movie Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, will be removed following objections raised by politicians and history enthusiasts.</p>
<p>The decision came after Utekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at his residence in Mumbai to discuss the issue.</p>
<p>The trailer of the film, released earlier this week, included a sequence where actors Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, portraying Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Maharani Yesubai, are seen dancing with the "lezim," a traditional musical instrument tied to Maharashtra's cultural heritage.</p>
<p>Speaking to reporters, Utekar stated, "The meeting with Raj Thackeray was to seek his advice. His knowledge of history, especially regarding Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, is extensive. He provided valuable suggestions for changes, which we will implement. As for the scene featuring Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj playing 'lezim,' we will delete it. It was not our intention to hurt anyone's sentiments."</p>
<p>The scene drew sharp criticism on social media, with some politicians accusing the filmmakers of disrespecting the historical figure.</p>
<p>Utekar explained, "We are removing the scene because it is not a significant part of the film. If people feel that the portrayal is inaccurate, we are willing to make this change. Our goal has always been to honour and showcase the greatness of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj to the world."</p>
<p>He further emphasized the meticulous research behind the film, saying, "This film is a result of four years of research by our team. The aim is to educate the world about the contributions of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj as a great warrior and king. If any part of the film tarnishes this vision, we have no hesitation in addressing it."</p>
<p>Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant, who had earlier called for the removal of the controversial scenes, welcomed the director's decision, expressing hope that this resolution would settle the matter.</p>
<p>Chhaava is scheduled for a theatrical release on February 14.</p>

<p>"I met Amrita or Dingy, as the loved ones call her, when I was just 12 years old. She did a film for my father, Yash Johar, called Duniya in 1984, and I remember the energy and grace she had. But what I remember the most is the warmest Chinese dinner with her after our first meeting," Karan reminisced.</p>
<p>He also shared how he met Saif for the first time and noted how Saif's charm reminded him of Ibrahim&rsquo;s suave and charismatic personality.&nbsp;</p>
<p>"Films are in their blood, their genes and their passion," Johar added, expressing his admiration for the family's contribution to the entertainment industry.</p>
<p>This marks a new chapter in Karan Johar&rsquo;s collaboration with the Khan family, one that spans four decades. He also worked with Ibrahim&rsquo;s sister, actress Sara Ali Khan, as a producer for Simmba.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Sara joined in celebrating her brother's debut by sharing Karan's announcement on her Instagram stories, writing, "@iakpataudi welcome to the movies."</p>
