'Devara': Jr NTR starrer postponed owing to VFX work; says report

Jr NTR's much-awaited film 'Devara', which was scheduled to hit the theatres in April, has reportedly been postponed owing to VFX work.

A source close to the production house told Pinkvilla that the makers are clear about not compromising on the visuals as the stakes are high. Jr NTR also wants to deliver a big cinematic experience.

‘Devara is a high-end VFX film, and the output is taking longer than expected. The makers are clear about not compromising on the visuals, as the stakes are high. NTR Jr. is also very cautious about next after RRR and wants to deliver a big cinematic experience. The makers are now looking to arrive in the second half of 2024,’ a source told the publication.

Ongoing VFX work and 20 days of shooting are remaining which have been pushed due to Saif Ali Khan's injury.

‘Devara’ teaser

Earlier this year, the highly anticipated teaser for the film ‘Devara’ was released. The teaser kicks off with a captivating fight scene featuring Jr. NTR, who is depicted as a village man engaged in a fierce battle with a group of goons. Although the nighttime setting doesn't provide a clear view of everyone's faces, the scene exudes intensity and gripping action.

On January 1, Jr. NTR unveiled a poster for the film. In this poster, the actor is seen standing on a boat amid the sea, wearing a black shirt and pants, with a deeply focused expression on his face.

About ‘Devara’

‘Devara’ is set against the backdrop of coastal lands and is directed by Koratala Siva. This film marks the debut of Janhvi Kapoor in South Indian cinema and her first collaboration with Jr. NTR. Similar to ‘RRR,’ this Telugu movie is expected to feature high-octane action sequences that will leave the audience awestruck. Reports suggest that ‘Devara’ is being produced on a grand scale, with the makers investing a staggering Rs 140 crore in its visual effects. There are also rumors circulating that a significant portion, around 33 percent, of the film's original budget is allocated for special effects.
