BAFTA 2023: 'All Quiet on the Western Front' dominates ceremony with seven wins

The BAFTA Awards ceremony took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday night. It was hosted by 'Loki' actor Richard E. Grant.

      The BAFTA Awards ceremony took place at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Sunday night. It was hosted by 'Loki' actor Richard E. Grant, who arrived in a Batmobile wearing a floor length with cape with a train. In attendance were nominees, presenters and guests including Queen Elizabeth II's grandson Prince William and his wife Catherine, Princess of Wales.

      'All Quiet on the Western Front' dominated the awards show with a record- breaking seven wins including for Best Director, Best Film and Best Film Not in English Language. The film now holds the record for the most awards won by a film not in English. The previous record was held by 1988 film 'Cinema Paradiso', which won 5 BAFTAs.

      'The Banshees of Insherin', starring Collin Farrell, won the second largest number of awards for the night. It won best supporting actor for Barry Keoghan and Kerry Condon, and writer-director Martin Mcdonagh won for Best Original Screenplay and Outstanding British Film.

      Baz Luhrmann's Elvis Presley biopic was another big winner, bagging four prizes- best leading actor for Austin Butler, best costume design, best casting, make-up and hair.

      Cate Blanchett was named Best Actress for her performance in Tar.
