CBS faces massive backlash after cutting short Billy Joel’s ‘Piano Man’ at the 100th concert special

Fans of Billy Joel are outraged after CBS decided to cut short the ‘Piano Man’ performance. The legendary pianist was performing his 100th concert at Madison Square Garden but what was meant to be a moment of joy turned into frustation for those who were watching the concert on their televisions.

CBS cuts short Billy Joel's 'Piano Man'

It was 100th consecutive concert of Billy Joel at New Yorks’s iconic venue Madison Square Garden. Celebrating the milestone of the legend, CBS was also advertising "The 100th: Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden – The Greatest Arena Run of All Time" for several months. But, when the actual night came, the broadcaster aired the show 30 minutes late. This was not all. CBS invited the ire of several fans when it abruptly cut short Joel’s iconic ballad ‘Piano Man’ to cut to a commercial.

Viewers were not amused at all. Fans of Billy Joel were flabbergasted as the iconic performance was cut short just before the iconic part and took to social media to express their frustration over the outrageous act by the broadcaster.

Billy Joel’s ‘The 100th’

For the fans who missed the live stream of Billy Joel’s special concert, it will be available to stream on-demand via Paramount+ with a SHOWTIME it the day after its broadcast. Paul Dugdale directed the special concert while Steve Cohen and Barry Ehrman were the executive producers of the same.
