Chris Hemsworth, who plays one of the most fascinating superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, featured on the cover of Vanity Fair’s May 2024 issue. While talking to the magazine, the Hollywood actor revealed that he feels like he owes Marvel fans another ‘Thor’ film as the last one didn’t meet expectations.

Chris Hemsworth on ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

It seems like Chris has not moved on from the failure of his last ‘Thor’ film. “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing,” he told Vanity Fair.

Despite being grateful for the opportunity to play the great Asgardian defender, Hemsworth grew frustrated with his role as well. He said, “Sometimes I felt like a security guard for the team,” he says. “I would read everyone else’s lines, and go, Oh, they got way cooler stuff. They’re having more fun. What’s my character doing? It was always about, ‘You’ve got the wig on. You’ve got the muscles. You’ve got the costume. Where’s the lighting?’ Yeah, I’m part of this big thing, but I’m probably pretty replaceable.”

Hemsworth wants to work outside the action genre

Chris also expressed his wish to work outside the action genre and to be taken seriously by directors like Christopher Nolan, Kathryn Bigelow, Greta Gerwig, Martin Scorsese, and Steven Spielberg.

    Chris Hemsworth’s upcoming projects

Last seen in ‘Extraction 2’, Chris Hemsworth will next be seen in ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’. He will be playing the villain in George Miller’s much-anticipated prequel to the 2015 Oscar-winning ‘Fury Road’.
