Coachella 2024: Grimes apologizes for ‘technical issues’; says won't let such a thing happen again

Grimes faced every performer's nightmare at Coachella 2024: equipment malfunctions in front of thousands. Despite a decent start, issues arose during the second half. She explained the problems were due to track programming on her mixing desk, but frustration led to shouting and shrieking into the mic. She took to X, formerly known as Twitter, the next day to apologise and vowed to improve for her next Coachella performance.

The singer of ‘Oblivion’ posted a lengthy reflection on the mishap. She expressed regret for letting others prepare her equipment without personally checking it, leading to a bad feeling about the set.

‘I want to apologize for the technical issues with the show tonight. I wanted to come back rly strong and usually I always handle every aspect of my show myself – to save time this was one of the first times I’ve outsourced essential things like rekordbox bpm’s and letting someone else organize the tracks on the sd card etc. I had a bad feeling beforehand not having run everything through the cdjs myself and tho I flagged it I wasn’t insistent,’ she wrote.

In a reflection on the mishap, she stated that she learned some significant lessons. She wrote, "if u want it done right, do it yrself," "be a c— even if ppl feel bad," and "probably pretend it’s fine and engage w the crowd rather than spend a whole show slumped over the desk trying to fix software when ur meant to be entertaining."

She vowed to personally organize things for her follow-up gig and asked fans for forgiveness.
