  • The first Grammy Awards were held in 1959. The awards were then called the 'Gramophone Awards'.
  • LeAnn Rimes is the youngest Grammy winner ever. At 14, she won two Grammys for 'Blue,' one for best new artist and one for best female country vocal performance.
  • Pinetop Perkins won a Grammy for best traditional Blues album for 'Joined At The Hip' in 2010 at 97. He is the oldest person to ever receive a Grammy Award.
  • Three US Presidents have won Grammy Awards; Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama for best spoken word album.
  • The most Grammys ever won by a single person is 31. The late conductor Georg Solti still holds the record for the most trophies won in his career.
