SAG Awards 2024 nominations announced: 'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' lead in major nods

'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' have secured their positions in the nominations for the Screen Guild Actors Awards 2024 that were announced on January 11 (IST).
'Succession' is leading in the television front and has secured five nominations.

'Barbie' and 'Oppenheimer' have received four nominations and will compete with 'Killers of the Flower Moon', 'American Fiction', and 'The Color Purple'. 'Beef', directed by Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, has three nominations. 'Ted Lasso,' 'The Bear' and 'The Last of Us,' earned four nominations each. Selena Gomez was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series for her role in Hulu’s 'Only Murders in the Building.'

The awards have come after a 118-day strike by members due to failed contract negotiations. There was a new agreement in November which resulted in pay increases for actors when their work is streamed.

The award ceremony is scheduled for February 24 in Los Angeles and will be live streamed on streaming giant Netflix. 2023 awards were streamed on Netflix's YouTube account. Barbra Streisand will receive the SAG Life Achievement Award.
