Jr NTR explains why ‘RRR’ wasn't chosen over ‘Last Film Show’ as India's Oscar entry

SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ created history by winning big at the recent 80th Golden Globe awards. The film’s song ‘Naatu Naatu’ bagged the award for Best Original Song. Now, the ‘RRR’ team is now eyeing an Oscar nomination and are campaigning for the film in Hollywood.

‘Last Film Show’, directed by Pan Nalin, is India’s official Oscar entry for the Best International Film category.

In a recent interview, Jr NTR and Ram Charan were asked about their thoughts on why their blockbuster film ‘RRR’ was not chosen as India's official entry at the Oscars.

Jr NTR told Variety, ‘I don’t think there is a lot of politics going on with what films should go. I think the panel, which is sitting down there knows what they do the best... Hindi has primarily been a national language for a very long time and that’s why it has taken prominence. For us, choose RRR or don’t choose RRR, RRR has already made us proud.’

Ram Charan, in a light-hearted fashion, said, ‘He (Jr. NTR) is being really humble but I want these two awards... I just don’t want to jinx it.’

Jr NTR was also asked if both the actors could see themselves swapping their roles in the film. He said that his co-star Ram Charan is more of an introvert in real life, so he can definitely see him in more of the 'water' zone for the movie.

SS Rajamouli's ‘RRR’ also stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn along with British actors Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody and Olivia Morris.
