Priyanka Chopra calls ‘RRR’ a ‘Tamil film’ after correcting interviewer who called it a ‘Bollywood film’

Actor Priyanka Chopra has been one of the biggest supporters of SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus ‘RRR’. She attended the screening of the film in the US and also hosted the film’s lead star Ram Charan and his wife Upasana at her residence in Los Angeles ahead of the Oscars. However, she made a gaffe when she referred to the Telugu period drama as a ‘Tamil film’ in a recent interview with the podcast channel Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard. This statement was made when she was actually correcting the interviewer who called ‘RRR’ a ‘Bollywood movie’.

Dax Shepard compared Bollywood to be like the 50s of Hollywood when a few stars and big studios controlled everything. Priyanka replied, ‘I don’t think you are far from it. I think that was what it was… big studios, five actors… big movies will be made by them; but the game is changed so much now. First of all, it’s streaming. It has given access to so many people who are making content.’

She added, ‘Bollywood has evolved in such an incredible way. You have the mainstream big action and the love story and the dancing…’ When Dax interrupted her by mentioning, ‘RRR…’, Priyanka corrected him saying, ‘That’s a Tamil movie by the way.’
