‘RRR’ actor Ray Stevenson dies: SS Rajamouli and James Gunn pen heartfelt notes

Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who directed Stevenson in the Oscar-winning film ‘RRR’, took to social media and wrote, ‘Shocking… Just can’t believe this news. Ray brought in so much energy and vibrancy with him to the sets.

Ray Stevenson, who was known for his work in films like ‘RRR’, ‘Punisher: War Zone’, ‘Thor’ and others, died in Italy on Sunday. The news of his death has left his friends and colleagues in shock with many condoling his demise.

Indian filmmaker SS Rajamouli, who directed Stevenson in the Oscar-winning film ‘RRR’, offered his condolences on social media. He shared a photo with the late actor on the set of the magnum opus and wrote that Ray Stevenson had an ‘infectious energy’.

He wrote, ‘Shocking… Just can’t believe this news. Ray brought in so much energy and vibrancy with him to the sets. It was infectious. Working with him was pure joy. My prayers are with his family. May his soul rest in peace.’

The official Twitter handle of ‘RRR’ also paid tribute to the late actor.

Ray Steveson played the role of Governor Scott Buxton in the period drama.

Filmmaker James Gunn, who briefly worked with Stevenson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, also expressed shock on Twitter. He wrote, ‘Damn. So sorry to hear about the passing, far too young, of Ray Stevenson. I only knew him a little from shooting post-credits of Thor 2 & a couple interactions at events, but we had some good laughs & he was a joy to work with. His friends & family are in my heart today.’

Stevenson’s posthumous releases include ‘1242: Gateway to the West’ and ‘Cassino in Ischia’.
