Raju Srivastava prayer meet: Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh, Kiku Sharda and others attend

Raju Srivastava, 58, died on September 21 at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after over 40 days of hospitalisation. He was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat on September 22.

      A prayer meet was organized by Raju Srivastava’s family in honour of the late comedian in Mumbai on Sunday. It was held at the Iskcon Temple in Juhu in the evening, and several celebrities arrived to pay their last respects.

      Raju Srivastava’s colleagues and friends from the industry such as comedians Johnny Lever, Kapil Sharma, Bharti Singh, Sunil Pal, Ehsaan Qureshi and Kiku Sharda attended the prayer meet. Actors like Neil Nitin Mukesh, Kay Kay Menon, Gurmeet Choudhary, and filmmakers Abbas Mustan were among others present at the prayer meet.

      According to Hindustan Times, Johnny Lever spoke about the late comedian at the prayer meet and said that his demise is a ‘huge loss for stand-up comedy’.

      ‘Raju's struggle days started with me. We have family relations, and we are neighbours as well. So you can imagine how much grief I am in. We have lost a great artist, he would have made people laugh for many more years, but he suddenly died. It's a huge loss for stand-up comedy,’ he said.

      Raju Srivastava died on September 21 at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) after over 40 days of hospitalisation. He was admitted to the hospital after he experienced chest pain and collapsed while working out at the gym.

      Raju Srivastava was cremated at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi on September 22. Many of his colleagues including Sunil Pal and Ehsaan Qureshi, director Madhur Bhandarkar had joined his family at the funeral.
