The matter has been posted for hearing on January 15," he told PTI-Bhasha.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; "We have highlighted large-scale irregularities in the exams held across the state, citing instances of people carrying mobile phones inside examination halls where there were no jammers. At many places, several examinees solved their question papers huddled together," he alleged.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Kumar claimed that "such irregularities" were reported from many examination centres and not just Bapu Pariksha Parisar where many candidates had boycotted the tests, alleging that the question paper had been leaked.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; "Hence, we have prayed for cancellation of the entire examination besides action against officials who may be responsible for the irregularities," the lawyer said.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Notably, about five lakh candidates had appeared at more than 900 centres across the state for the exams.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Re-examination was held for 1,200 candidates assigned to Bapu Pariksha Parisar centre<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has been denying the allegations with the claim that there was a "conspiracy" to get the exams cancelled.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The commission's decision to order a re-exam for a select group of candidates has been resented by others who have launched a stir, alleging that they have been deprived of a "level-playing field".<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Kishor, who has thrown his weight behind the agitation, began a fast unto death on January 2 and refused to give up, despite the advice of doctors to resume normal diet.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; His party has said he could consider discontinuing the fast if Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar agreed to break the deadlock by having a word with a delegation of civil service aspirants.</p>

<p>A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and P B Varale was not inclined to entertain the petitions filed by one Jaya Thakur and the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) under Article 32 of the Constitution.</p>
<p>The bench pointed out Jaya Thakur's petition challenged the bill, which had become the Act, whereas the NFIW challenged the delimitation clause of the law.</p>
<p>While Thakur's plea was dismissed as infructuous, the court was not inclined to examine NFIW's plea under Article 32 saying it could move the high court or any other appropriate forum.</p>
<p>The NFIW challenged the constitutional validity of Article 334A (1) or Clause 5 of the 2023 Act where it rendered delimitation of constituencies a prerequisite to the implementation of the Act.</p>
<p>On November 3, 2023, the top court while hearing Thakur&rsquo;s plea said it would be "very difficult" for the court to strike down a part of the women's reservation law which would come into effect after the census.</p>
<p>It refused to issue a notice on Thakur's plea and asked the counsel for the petitioner to serve the copy on the lawyer representing the Centre.</p>
<p>On September 21, 2023, the watershed bill to reserve one-third of the seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women received the parliamentary nod.</p>
<p>The constitutional amendment bill was passed by the Lok Sabha with near unanimity and the Rajya Sabha with unanimity.</p>
<p>The law would take some time before implementation as the next census and the subsequent delimitation exercise -- redrawing of Lok Sabha and assembly constituencies -- would ascertain the particular seats being earmarked for women.</p>
<p>The quota for women in Lok Sabha and assemblies would continue for 15 years and Parliament can later extend the benefit period.</p>
<p>While there was quota within quota for women from scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, the opposition demanded the benefit to be extended to other backward classes.</p>
<p>There were efforts to pass the bill in Parliament since 1996 and a last such attempt was made in 2010, when Rajya Sabha approved a bill for women's reservation, but it could not be passed in Lok Sabha.</p>
<p>Data showed women MPs account for nearly 15 per cent of the Lok Sabha strength whereas their representation was below 10 per cent in many state assemblies.</p>
<p>On September 29, 2023, President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the bill.</p>

<p>Earlier in the day, officials said police will address a press conference at its headquarters to share more details but it was later cancelled.</p>
<p>The sources said the accused had sent bomb threats to 23 different schools as he did not want to take school examinations. He used this method to trigger panic.</p>
<p>"The student got the idea from previous incidents and hatched a plan to change his IP address by using Virtual Private Network (VPN) and send threat e-mails to different schools. Further investigation is underway," said a source.</p>

<p>The court noted that the CBI failed to produce the case diary, a critical document for transparency and procedural legitimacy. This, the judge said, undermines the prosecution's case. The court also pointed out the failure of the investigation officer to serve an arrest warrant, making the arrest &ldquo;procedurally unsound.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The judge found that the CBI&rsquo;s actions were marked by several fundamental lapses, including procedural violations and inconsistencies, which led to the ruling that Deep&rsquo;s detention was illegal. Deep was granted release on a personal recognizance bond of Rs 50,000.</p>
<p>The CBI had alleged that Deep received a bribe of Rs 60 lakh near Panchkula in Haryana on December 22, 2024, and then evaded authorities by changing his location and phone. He was eventually traced and arrested in Mumbai on Tuesday.</p>

<p>Delhi airport operator DIAL on Friday said the four-decade-old Terminal 2 (T2) will be closed for four to six months in the next financial year for refurbishment works that are expected to be completed in the September quarter. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in the national capital, which is also the country's busiest airport, has three terminals -- T1, T2 and T3. Currently, T1 and T2 are used only for domestic flights. The refurbishment works of T2 are set to commence in 2025-26 with an expected completion date in Q2 of FY26, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said in a release. The financial year starts from April 1, 2025. "Terminal 2 will undergo a temporary shutdown for approximately 4 to 6 months to complete these improvements. "The temporary closure of Terminal 2 is expected to cause minimal disruption to operations, as the newly developed Terminal 1 will absorb the additional load, ensuring continued service to passengers," the release said. T2 was constructed 40 years ago by the Airports Authority of India (AAI). "The decades-old terminal will undergo significant upgrades aimed at elevating the passenger experience and increasing the airport's capacity to meet future growth demands," the release said. DIAL CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the refurbishment of the four-decade-old T2 is the need of the hour. He also said the overall passenger experience will be enhanced by upgrading key infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and elevating passenger comfort. "With the terminal's projected passenger capacity expected to reach its peak by FY 2025-26, these enhancements will be crucial in supporting the growing demand for air travel, particularly for domestic passengers," he noted. The airport handles around 1,300 flight movements daily.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The third injured person has been identified as Faheem, who was travelling in another vehicle along with Zeeshan, Shanu and Haryana Police constable Ramkumar, officials said.</p>
<p>A police team reached the spot and admitted the injured to the hospital. The damaged vehicles were removed from the road with the help of a crane and the highway was made operational, Station House Officer Vijay Kumar Gupta said.</p>

<p>Five members of a family, including three children aged eight, four and one whose bodies were stuffed in sacks and kept in a bed box, were found killed in their home, police said on Friday. Two persons were arrested for the sensational murders that shocked this Uttar Pradesh town.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Several suspects have also been taken into custody for the killing that came to light on Thursday night. The bodies of the parents were wrapped in bedsheets. And all five had deep head injuries and slash marks on their necks.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vipin Tada said, "Based on a complaint filed by the relatives of the deceased woman, a case has been registered against three named accused and some unidentified persons. Two named suspects and several others have been taken into custody for questioning."<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Police said the bodies of the husband and wife were found wrapped in bedsheets, while those of their three children were stuffed in the storage compartment of a bed at the family's home in the densely populated Suhail Garden neighbourhood in the Lisari Gate police station area.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Tada added that one named suspect is absconding, and police teams have been deployed to arrest him. "All pieces of evidence are being gathered, and the case will be solved soon," he said.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The deceased were identified as Moin alias Moinuddin (52), his wife Asma (45), and their daughters Afsah (8), Aziza (4), and Adeeba (1).&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The bodies of the children were found stuffed in sacks and hidden in the bed's storage, the police said, adding all the victims had deep head injuries and slash marks on their necks.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; According to the Lisari Gate police, Asma's brother, Shamim, lodged a formal complaint late at night. He accused Asma's younger sister-in-law, Nazrana, and her two brothers of involvement in the suspected murders.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The SSP, who visited the crime scene Thursday night along with other senior officers, said the family's house was locked from outside when locals and neighbours checked it in the evening.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; "After gaining access through the roof, they found the bodies," Tada told reporters. "The manner in which the house was locked suggests that the individual involved in the crime may have been someone known to the family."&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The SSP said the preliminary investigations point towards an old enmity as the possible motive behind the incident. "A detailed investigation is underway," he added.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The SSP further said the legs of one of the deceased were found tied with a bedsheet, adding a forensic team and senior officers are collecting evidence.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; The family had recently moved to the area and the police are investigating their background to find out more details.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Moin, who is a mechanic by profession, and Asma had been missing since Wednesday, Tada said. &nbsp; &nbsp;<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; According to police, Moin's brother Salim was the first to witness the horrifying scene when he went to check on the family concerned over his brother's whereabouts.<br>&nbsp; &nbsp; Salim arrived at Moin's house with his wife. <p>An eight-year-old boy from Gujarat&rsquo;s Sabarkantha district has tested positive for human metapneumovirus (HMPV), bringing the total number of cases in the state to three, as reported by authorities on Friday.</p>
<p>The child, who hails from a family of farm workers in Prantij taluka, was initially found positive for HMPV through testing by a private laboratory. Health officials then sent his blood samples for confirmation to a government laboratory. The test results confirmed the infection.</p>
<p>As of now, the boy is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Himmatnagar, where his condition is stable, according to Sabarkantha District Collector Ratankanvar Gadhavicharan. However, the doctors at the hospital stated that the child is on a ventilator.</p>
<p>This case marks the third reported in the state, following Gujarat's first HMPV case on January 6. The first patient, a two-month-old boy from Rajasthan, was diagnosed with HMPV and was later discharged after treatment at a local hospital.</p>
<p>On Thursday, a new case was confirmed in Ahmedabad city, involving an 80-year-old man suffering from asthma. He is currently being treated at a private hospital.</p>
<p>HMPV, first discovered in 2001, is a member of the Paramyxoviridae family, closely related to Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). The virus spreads through respiratory droplets produced by coughing or sneezing, as well as from touching contaminated surfaces or coming into direct contact with infected individuals. Symptoms of HMPV include fever, nasal congestion, runny nose, and cough.</p>
