2001 Parliament attack | Vice President, PM Modi, other leaders pay tribute to fallen jawans

On the occasion, Modi and Dhankhar met the family members of the fallen jawans. Terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed outfits attacked the Parliament complex on December 13, 2001, killing nine people.

Twenty-two years after the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other leaders gathered paid tribute to the fallen soldiers.

Opposition leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, TMC MP Derek O'Brien and other leaders also gathered at the Parliament to pay tributes.

On the occasion, Modi and Dhankhar met the family members of the fallen jawans.

In a post on X, President Droupadi Murmu said the nation will forever be indebted to the brave security personnel who laid down their lives in the 2001 terror attack on Parliament, and asked all to reiterate the pledge to wipe out terrorism.

Terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed outfits attacked the Parliament complex on December 13, 2001, killing nine people. All five terrorists were gunned down by the security forces.
