2024 Lok Sabha election: Which states will vote first and when?

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be conducted across seven phases, starting from April 19. While there are a majority of states where the general elections will be done in a single phase, some key states will see multi-phase voting. Here's a breakdown of states voting in phases and the date of polling.

There are 22 states and UTs where polling will be done in a single day. Voting will begin on April 19

Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar island, Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Ladakh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Telangana, Uttarakhand, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu.

Four states will see two-phase polling. These are:

Karnataka: April 26, May 7
Rajasthan: April 19, April 26
Tripura: April 19, April 26
Manipur: April 19, April 26

Two states will go to polls in three phases

Chhattisgarh: April 19, April 26, May 7
Assam: April 19, April 26, May 7

Three-phase voting in three states

Odisha: May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1
Madhya Pradesh: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13
Jharkhand: May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1

Five-phase voting in two states

Maharashtra: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13 and May 20
Jammu and Kashmir: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20

Seven-phase voting in three states

Uttar Pradesh: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20,
May 25 and June 1

Bihar: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25
and June 1

West Bengal: April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20,
May 25 and June 1
