In a fresh diplomatic face-off between India and China, Delhi rejected Beijing's comments regarding Jammu and Kashmir. The latest row erupted over a Chinese minister's comments at a meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, or OIC, held in Pakistan.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had reportedly said at the event that India was committing war crimes in Kashmir. Khan had added that the Islamic world had failed people in Kashmir and Palestine.

Subsequently, Wang Yi, the Chinese Foreign Minister reportedly said, "On Kashmir, we have heard again today the calls of many of our Islamic friends. And China shares the same hope."

In response, the Indian government said, "We reject the uncalled reference to India by the Chinese Foreign Minister during his speech at the Opening Ceremony (of OIC). Matters related to Jammu and Kashmir are entirely the internal affairs of India. Other countries including China have no locus standi to comment. They should note that India refrains from public judgement of their internal affairs."

China has become involved in the J&K dispute between India and Pakistan by constructing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, or CPEC, through Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

Meanwhile, Indian and Chinese forces are still eyeball-to-eyeball in some spots along the disputed border in Ladakh since Beijing's attempts at military aggression in 2020.
