Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik urged the government to meet the demands of the protesting farmers. While speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in Rajasthan, Malik warned that if the demands of the farmers are not met, then the BJP government won’t return to power.

Further he pointed out that BJP leaders can’t even enter several villages in election-bound Uttar Pradesh.

Asked if he would relinquish his post to stand with farmers, Malik said he would do that too if needed.

He said if the government legally guarantees MSP, the farmers’ issue will be resolved and emphasised that he is willing to mediate between the Centre and the farmers if asked to.

Farmers have been protesting at the Delhi borders against the three central farm laws for over a year now.

Malik had earlier come out in support of farmers, saying that they cannot be insulted as he urged the government to resolve the ongoing crisis.
