Blast in Jammu on day of PM's visit may have been an IED: reports

The blast which took place hours before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jammu and Kashmir may have been an IED dropped by a drone, according to an India Today reporting quoting sources.

The report also said that security forces are also probing whether a drone could have dropped an IED, close to the venue of the prime minister’s rally.

India Today quote a top officer as saying that terror groups like Jaish and LeT could have deployed drones to stop the rally from taking place.

A mysterious blast was reported in an agriculture field on the outskirts of Jammu on Sunday hours before PM’s arrival. The police had then said that the explosion may have been a result of a meteorite or lightning.

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Palli in Samba district, 17 km from Jammu, on the occasion of the national Panchayati Raj Day. He addressed a host of development projects and addressed a rally.
