Chandrayaan 3 lands on Moon: Next is deployment of Pragyan rover, but after a pause. Here's why

After the successful landing of Chandrayaan 3 on the Moon, the next phase of the mission is the deployment of the lunar rover.

The Pragyan rover is expected to be sent out onto the surface of the Moon around three hours after the Vikram lander's touchdown near the south pole.

This is because the landing is believed to have kicked up a huge storm of lunar dust. Since the Moon has weak gravity, the dust won't settle quickly. Instead, the dust particles are expected to disperse because of their own momentum.

If the rover is sent out immediately after the landing, the lunar dust would cover its cameras and other equipment. Thus, the plan is to deploy Pragyan three-and-a-half hours after the landing.
