Civilians killed in Rajouri: NIA team visits site, begins probe

A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) visited Upper Dhangri village in Rajouri district of Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday.

The investigating agency's visit comes after 6 civilians were killed in two consecutive attacks on January 1 and 2.

The team is expected to note down details of the attacks and work in co-operation with sleuths of the Jammu & Kashmir police. It will keep a tab on the pattern of the terror attacks claiming civilian lives - one occurred on Sunday evening and another one on Monday, in the same village in Rajouri district.

On January 2, one child died while 5 persons were injured in the explosion. Security forces had also found another improvised explosive device in the area.

A day earlier, terrorists had barged into 3 houses in the area and opened indiscriminate fire. At least 4 people died and 9 were injured in the 1 January attack.

Nearly a dozen were reported as injured in the two terror attacks and are receiving treatment in a Jammu hospital.

L-G Manoj Sinha who visited the attack spot on Monday evening, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakhs and a government job to the kin of those killed in the firing incident. While seriously injured would be given Rs 1 lakh.
