      Cyclone Asani changes path, heavy to very heavy rainfall warning for Andhra

      Cyclone Asani which was expected to move parallel along the coast of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh has now changed its direction. It is now expected to hit the Kakinanda coast in Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday and then come back to the sea.

      India Meteorological Department had earlier said that the cyclone will not be hitting land.

      According to the weather office, the cyclone has lost some of its intensity but could damage thatched huts, cause minor damage to power and communication lines.

      The Met department had earlier had Heavy to very heavy rainfall warning has been issued for coastal Andhra Pradesh.

      The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed nine teams in Andhra Pradesh and kept another seven teams on standby, while one team has been deployed in Odisha, 17 have been put on standby.

      As many as 12 teams have been deployed in West Bengal and five were on standby.
