Delhi: Floodwater reaches Supreme Court; Yamuna remains above danger mark

Even as river Yamuna's water level began to recede on July 14, some areas in Delhi remained submerged. The floodwaters even reached the Supreme Court, which is situated in the Tilak Marg area in the central part of the capital city. Areas in ITO and Rajghat also remained inundated.

A regulator of the Delhi Irrigation and Flood Control department suffered damage near Indraprastha on July 13, which caused the water of overflowing Yamuna to flow back towards the city. Delhi Urban Development Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj said that the Government has prioritised fixing the damage.

"No vehicular traffic will be allowed on Mahatma Gandhi Marg from Sarai Kale Khan towards IP Flyover due to overflow of drain water near WHO Building. Commuters are advised to avoid the stretch," the Delhi Traffic Police tweeted. The commuters battled difficulties while going through ITO roads and Bhairon road.
