Delhi police ban gatherings, rallies in national capital ahead of farmers' Delhi Chalo march

Delhi police have banned gatherings across the national capital under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code a day ahead of the planned Delhi Chalo march organised by the protesting farmers.

The order will take effect immediately and will last for 30 days, i.e., March 12, unless withdrawn earlier.

Citing the possibility of anti-social elements taking advantage of the protest, the police said that they are taking this step to maintain law and order across the city.

Farmers from Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh have called for the march on February 13 to demand a law guaranteeing MSP for their produce, one of the conditions they had set when they agreed to withdraw their agitation in 2021.
