Delhi pollution: AIIMS director warns of severe Covid-19 cases, worsening lung ailments

As pollution in Delhi continues to increase due to stubble burning and bursting of cracker during Diwali, the director of AIIMS in Delhi has warned against severe Covid-19 cases and worsening lung ailments.

Dr Randeep Guleria said that pollution has a huge effect on respiratory health especially on people with lung diseases and asthma as their disease worsens. He also added that air pollution lead to severe Covid-19 cases as well and advised that people continue wearing masks as it will provide protection from both, pollution and Covid-19.

The national capital recorded an air quality index of 533 on Saturday while the 24-hour average for Friday was 462, indicating severe level of pollution in the city.
