Around 4.15 am, at least 100 schools in the Delhi-NCR region received bomb threat emails on May 1 morning, triggering a wave of panic.

The threatening mail, which claimed to have Quranic verses, alleged that many explosive devices in the school had been placed.

According to Delhi Police, bomb threats targeting several Delhi schools were transmitted via email. The originating IP addresses suggest they were generated from outside India, raising suspicions that VPNs may have been used to mask the true locations. Some media reports claimed that the mail originated from Russia.

After the schools received the threatening mail, police were informed, following which a bomb detection unit, and team from the Delhi Fire Service were mobilised to the schools.

A search operation was conducted, but the search teams didn't find anything suspicious yet.

The threat emails also triggered a wave of panic among the parents, who had rushed to school after they were informed by the school authorities to pick up their kids.

The Delhi Police, meanwhile, asked the parents to remain calm, saying that they didn't find any objectionable item was found.

The Ministry of Home Affairs claimed that it was nothing more than a hoax call and said that Delhi Police and security agencies are taking necessary steps as per protocol.

Delhi minister Atishi said that the Delhi government is in touch with the police and the schools. Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena said that he sought a detailed report on the bomb threats and that he directed Delhi Police to identify the culprits and ensure there are no lapses.
