Exchange of fire between India, Pakistan forces in Jammu; troops on high alert

Days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jammu, Pakistan Rangers on February 14 started unprovoked firing at the Border Security Force (BSF) along the line of control (LoC) in RS Pora sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Indian Express reported, quoting sources, that the Pakistan army fired at Chenab post opposite Allah Mai De Kothey at around 5:50 pm. The BSF returned fire from two posts situated in RS Pura and Makwal.

The aggression was in violation of the 2021 ceasefire agreement.

The BSF spokesperson, in a statement, said that the forces have been put on 'high alert'.

Notably, the incident comes days before the Prime Minister's visit to Jammu, scheduled on February 20, where he will lay the foundation stone for developmental projects.

Meanwhile, this is Pakistan's second aggression along the Loc in recent months.
