The penalty on Air India came a day after the airline put a flight ban on accused Shankar Mishra for 4 months.

Following huge uproar over Air India crew's response to the alleged urination on a woman passenger, India's aviation watchdog has penalised the airline.

Air India has been ordered to pay ₹30 lakhs as fine by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, according to news agency ANI.

Additionally, DGCA has suspended for 3 months the licence of the pilot-in-command of the New York-to-Delhi flight on which the alleged incident took place. A ₹3 lakh fine has also been imposed on Air India's director, in-flight services.

The penalty on Air India came a day after the airline put a flight ban on accused Shankar Mishra for 4 months.

The incident took place in November 2022, and the complainant has accused the flight crew of trying to hush-up the matter.
