Gujarat: Kshatriya leaders make special appeal via newspaper ads, MCC violation alleged

Even as the Kshatriyas have been protesting in different parts of Gujarat over Union minister and Rajkot candidate Purushotam Rupala’s alleged derogatory remarks about former rulers, newspaper ads in the state made a special appeal to the voters ahead of the third phase of voting in the state.

Various Kshatriya leaders and organisations appealed to the voters to forgive Rupala and stand by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Earlier on May 5, BJP's Kshatriya leaders issued a joint statement appealing to the community to show a big heart and embrace the Sanskrit verse “kshama virasya bhushanam” (forgiveness is the ornament of the brave).

Meanwhile, taking note of the advertisements, the coordination committee of as many as 90 Kshatriya organisations have approached Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer P Bharathi with a complaint alleging violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The complaint has been forwarded to the Police for further action.
