"We have made elaborate security arrangements for Eid. Preparations had been underway for several days and local residents also cooperated with us, which helped ensure that the morning prayers went smoothly," the officer said. Additionally, a police social media monitoring team has been keeping a close watch on online activities of prominent figures, he said. "Our team is conducting a sentiment analysis of key leaders' social media posts to assess their thoughts and emotions," he added. Many devotees were seen helping police personnel manage the crowd after the prayers and ensuring that people exited the mosque in an orderly manner, without causing traffic congestion. Delhi Minority Commission chairperson Abdul Qureshi expressed happiness over the peaceful celebrations. "People, regardless of religion, are embracing each other with love and exchanging greetings. Eid is a festival of peace. After a month of fasting, we celebrate this occasion with joy," he said.

The state&rsquo;s efforts in screening, detecting, and treating TB cases were recognized at a ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, where State TB Officer Dr. Rajesh Bhaskar received a certificate of achievement from Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda.
Launched on December 7, 2024, by Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh in Amritsar, the campaign aimed to accelerate TB elimination through intensified screening, early diagnosis, and improved care for vulnerable populations.
Dr. Balbir Singh highlighted that during the 100-day drive, health teams across Punjab screened approximately 28 lakh high-risk individuals, identifying 17,300 TB patients who were provided with timely treatment and nutritional support. He added that the campaign also emphasized preventive measures, including TB preventive therapy for contacts and at-risk groups to curb new infections.
He credited the achievement to the dedication of frontline health workers.
Punjab&rsquo;s success was evaluated based on multiple performance indicators, including case detection rates, reduction in TB-related deaths, and coverage of preventive treatment.

Punjab has made significant strides in fish farming, producing 1,81,188 tons of fish annually from natural waters, private, and panchayati ponds. Currently, 43,973 acres in the state are dedicated to fish farming, according to Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development, and Fisheries.
At a state-level seminar organized by the Fisheries Department in SAS Nagar (Mohali), farmers were introduced to new technologies, best practices, and innovative fish farming methods. Over 300 farmers and officials participated in the event.
To further promote the sector, approximately 14 crore quality fish seed is produced annually at 16 government-run fish seed farms and distributed to farmers at subsidized rates.
Punjab is also making progress in shrimp farming, particularly in the five southwestern districts&mdash;Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda, Mansa, Faridkot, and Fazilka&mdash;where land previously unsuitable for agriculture due to water-logging and salinity is now being used for shrimp cultivation. &ldquo;Shrimp farming in these districts is providing farmers with a net profit of Rs 2.50 to Rs 4.00 lakh per acre,&rdquo; said Gurmeet Singh Khudian.
Two progressive fish farmers, Amiteshwar Singh Gill from Fatehgarh Sahib and Parminderjit Singh from Kapurthala, were honored for their contributions to the sector.
Director Fisheries Jasvir Singh highlighted that the department has disbursed over Rs 30 crore in subsidies to 618 families over the past four years under a centrally sponsored scheme. He also noted that under the leadership of Gurmeet Singh Khudian and the guidance of Principal Secretary Rahul Bhandari, subsidies are being provided for various fisheries-related projects, including fish and shrimp farming expansion, transportation vehicles, RAS and bio-floc units, fish kiosks, and mini fish feed mills.
Common Service Centre, Punjab head Bhupinder Singh informed farmers about a government database and the benefits of registering on the National Fisheries Digital Platform. A four-wheeler was also seized&rdquo;, Manipur Police added in another post. During the operation, 3 heavy mortar launchers (country made), 5 metal IED, one IED, 5kg of plastic IED, one 7.62mm country made pistol with magazine, one 7.65mm pistol with magazine, four AK-47 ammunition, six SLR ammunition, six 12 bore ammunition, 200grams of gunpowder, two helmets, two BPJ harness from Molnom-Senam were recovered on Saturday. Five metal IED and one plastic IED were destroyed in situ and remnants deposited at Tengnoupal police station. Police added that the movement of 283 vehicles carrying essential items along NH-2 is being monitored while strict security measures are taken up in all vulnerable locations and a security convoy is provided in sensitive stretches to ensure free and safe movement of the vehicles. A total of 112 checkpoints were installed in different districts of Manipur, both in the hills and valleys.

This year the month of Ramzan was of 29 days, while last year it was of 30 days. According to the Islamic calendar, there are 29 or 30 days in a month, depending on the sighting of the moon. During the month of Ramzan, people do not eat or drink anything from sunrise to sunset.

The conviction stems from charges of raping a woman from Zirakpur, Punjab, after allegedly luring her with promises of assistance in traveling abroad. The sentence will be declared on April 1, while six other individuals have been acquitted in the case.
Singh, who is no stranger to controversy, recently made headlines when a video emerged showing him assaulting a man and a woman in his office.
The footage displayed Singh throwing objects and repeatedly slapping the man, before turning his attention to a woman, ultimately hurling a book-like object and hitting her.
In another unsettling incident reported on February 28, a 22-year-old woman accused Singh of sexual harassment. According to her complaint, she and her family began attending Singh's church in October 2017.
She claimed that Singh took her phone number and started sending her text messages.
Out of fear, she kept this from her parents. From 2022, Singh allegedly began isolating her in a cabin at the church, where he would hug and touch her inappropriately.
He reportedly threatened her with harm to her and her family if she reported his actions.
In a separate case in 2022, Singh faced accusations from a family in Delhi after accepting money to treat their ill daughter, who unfortunately passed away.
Adding to his troubles, Singh's premises were raided by the income-tax department in 2023.
Singh, who was born into a Jat family in Haryana, claims to have converted to Christianity over a decade ago. He currently operates churches in Jalandhar and Mohali and maintains a substantial following on social media.

The Yogi Adityanath government is all set to launch the U.P. Rozgar Mission to help job seekers improve their skills, especially for employment opportunities abroad. Officials say the state cabinet is expected to approve the plan in its next meeting. This initiative will bring together around two dozen government departments to provide counseling and skill training for those registered with the employment exchange. The goal is to prepare them for both domestic and international job markets, according to a senior official from the labour and employment department. According to the proposal, five high-level monitoring and executive committees at various levels will supervise the Mission. The apex committee or the governing council will be headed by the chief minister while the chief secretary will head another committee. District magistrates will head committees in their respective districts. The additional chief secretary, labour, and the director, training and employment, will head departmental committees at their level. The government has already allocated ₹200 crore to kickstart the Mission. A key focus will be assessing job opportunities abroad and setting up centres to offer foreign language training and career guidance. If job seekers lack specific skills, training programs will help bridge those gaps. To tackle language barriers, the plan includes setting up four to five foreign language training centres across the state. These centres will teach key languages to help candidates adapt better when working overseas. This initiative is part of the government&rsquo;s broader effort to create more employment opportunities and equip young people with the skills needed to compete in the global job market.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to establish a &lsquo;Rail Neer&rsquo; bottled water plant in Saraswati High-Tech City, Prayagraj, aligning with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath&rsquo;s vision of making Uttar Pradesh a one-trillion-dollar economy.
The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has allocated 2.5 acres for the project, with an estimated investment of ₹25 crore. The plant will have a production capacity of 1 lakh liters per day, significantly increasing the availability of packaged drinking water.
IRCTC already operates multiple &lsquo;Rail Neer&rsquo; plants across India, including two in Uttar Pradesh&mdash;Amethi and Hapur. This upcoming facility will be the third in the state, catering to the Purvanchal region.
&ldquo;This project will not only promote industrial development but also play a key role in providing safe drinking water to railway passengers,&rdquo; said Mayur Maheshwari, CEO of UPSIDA.
With high demand for packaged drinking water, especially during summer, the plant will ensure the availability of clean and high-quality drinking water for passengers, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases. Additionally, it is expected to generate direct and indirect employment, boosting the local economy.
Strategically located 5 km from the railway station, 25 km from Prayagraj Airport, and 15 km from the highway, the plant will benefit from strong logistics and supply networks.
The initiative is also expected to attract industrial investors and encourage further investments in Uttar Pradesh.

Highlighting its significance, CM Dhami said the new train service would enhance travel convenience for local passengers, boost tourism, and facilitate pilgrimages to Maa Purnagiri Dham.
"This is a historic moment. The people of the Kumaon region will now get the benefit of better train services for long distances. This will provide convenience to local passengers, give a new dimension to tourism, and make the journey easier for the devotees coming to Maa Purnagiri Dham," he said.
The Chief Minister also noted that the initiative would contribute to the state&rsquo;s economic growth by expanding markets for local products and strengthening the 'Vocal for Local' campaign.
"This initiative will also boost the state's economy, as local products will get more market and the 'Vocal for Local' campaign will get new momentum. Also, under the 'One Station, One Product' scheme, regional handicrafts and special products will get national recognition, which will directly benefit local artisans and entrepreneurs," he added.
On the same day, CM Dhami inaugurated the Maa Ganga Aarti at Laxminarayan Temple, Laxminarayan Ghat, in Roorkee. The event, held on the occasion of Navsamvatsara Chaitra Navratri, was conducted with full rituals and was described as a testament to the deep faith in Mother Ganga.
"Being the origin area of Maa Ganga, we all have to make integrated efforts to protect the sanctity of Ganga," he emphasized.
Additionally, the Chief Minister reviewed preparations for the upcoming Char Dham Yatra. He confirmed that the dates for the opening of all four Dhams&mdash;Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath&mdash;have been finalized. The pilgrimage holds immense spiritual significance and draws lakhs of devotees every year.

The event, held on the occasion of Navsamvatsara Chaitra Navratri, was conducted with full rituals, symbolizing deep faith in Maa Ganga. Dhami emphasized the importance of collective efforts to preserve the sanctity of the sacred river.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister extended his greetings to the people on Chaitra Navratri. In a post on X, he wrote, "I wish all the people of the state on the occasion of Chaitra Navratri. I pray to Maa Shailaputri, who fulfills all the wishes of her devotees and grants them success, that happiness, prosperity, and advancement come in your lives."
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his wishes on Navratri and Hindu Nav Varsha (Nav Samvatsar). "Best wishes to the countrymen on Navratri. May this holy festival of Shakti-sadhana fill everyone's life with courage, restraint, and strength. Jai Mata Di," he posted on X. Calling it a festival of "Shakti and Sadhana," the Prime Minister shared a hymn by classical singer Pandit Jasraj dedicated to the goddess. "The beginning of Navratri awakens a new zeal of devotion in the worshippers of the mother goddess. This hymn by Pandit Jasraj, dedicated to the worship of the mother goddess, is going to mesmerize everyone," he added.
Meanwhile, devotees have gathered in large numbers at the Maa Mansa Devi Temple in Haridwar for darshan. Situated atop the Shivalik Mountains, the temple is believed to fulfill the true wishes of devotees. Many visitors tie a thread as a symbol of their prayers and desires, making it a significant pilgrimage site during Navratri.

The Uttarakhand government on Sunday launched a health campaign spreading among the public the virtues of a frugal diet ahead of the Chardham Yatra.&nbsp;
Uttarakhand Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar said the main objective of the 'Aaj se thoda kam' campaign is to control excess salt, sugar, and fat in food to prevent the onset of such conditions as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure.&nbsp;
He said under the initiative, restaurants and eateries will be encouraged to prepare healthy dishes. Banners, posters and digital media will be leveraged to spread the word about the campaign.&nbsp;
The secretary said the department has also launched the 'Re-purpose Used Cooking Oil' (RUCO) initiative to help reduce the use of re-used oil. Under the initiative, the used oil will be collected and recycled into biodiesel, go into the making of soap and other non-food products, he said.&nbsp;
The health secretary said that to ensure food safety, the administration has also formulated a 'Triple E' (Educate, Enforce, Establish) strategy, which includes educating food businessmen and the general public about the ill effects of used oil, strictly enforcing food safety compliance, and disposal of used oil.&nbsp;
"It is the priority of the government to provide safe and nutritious food to the devotees on the Chardham Yatra. Initiatives like 'Aaj se thoda kam' and 'RUCO' will not only ensure health safety but will also help in environmental protection," he said, according to a statement.&nbsp;
Uttarakhand Food Safety and Drug Administration Additional Commissioner Tajbar Singh Jaggi said food safety standards will be strictly enforced on the Chardham Yatra route.&nbsp;
"We are committed to providing healthy and hygienic food to pilgrims and tourists. Every food businessman has to ensure that they follow the standards of hygiene and food safety," he said. This Chardham Yatra will start with the opening of the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri on April 30.
