'How will city survive': Bengaluru water crisis leaves people worried

Bengaluru is reeling under the cascading impact of prolonged drought. The Silicon City of India is facing a serious water crisis. Not enough rain in the region has caused the water level in the Cauvery River to drop.

A woman living in the city talked about the crisis. She said, "We've been facing a water crisis for the past 3-4 months. What can we do, we are having a major problem because of this. We go from place to place but don't get water. We don't have enough money to even get water tankers. We've come from places like Nepal to earn money here.

Several people took to social media to talk about the difficult situation in the city. Internet users said, 'Bangalore water crisis is scary.'

One user reacted, 'Whatever plans I was imagining to shift to Bangalore in a couple of years are cancelled because of the water crisis.'

Another user asked, 'How the city will survive'

According to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, 223 out of the 236 Taluks in the state are drought-hit. 219 of them are severely affected.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar said that out of the 14,781 borewells under Bengaluru's civic bodies, 6,997 have stopped giving water.
