'I miss critics': PM Modi to Open magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi credited India’s self-reliance and technology for the success of the vaccination drive in the country in an interview to Open magazine.

'Imagine if our country had not come up with a vaccine. What would be the situation? Today, our success in vaccination is thanks to India being Atmanirbhar,' he said.

He added that when the vaccination drive was being planned the govt wanted technology to be the backbone of process

The Prime Minister also said inspite of the country doing well compared to other nations in handling the global scourge of Covid-19, there are vested interests who want to tarnish the country’s image.

'When we compare India’s situation in the world, we have done better than many developed countries. However, we have in our midst vested interests whose only aim is to tarnish India’s name,' the PM said.

Talking to the Open magazine about the criticism he faces, the Prime Minister said that he honestly respects critics a lot but the number of his critics is very low.

'I attach a big importance to criticism. I, with an honest mind, respect critics a lot. But, unfortunately, the number of critics is very few. Mostly, people only level allegations, the people who play games about perception are more in number. And the reason for this is that, for criticism, one has to do a lot of hard work, research and, in today’s fast-paced world, maybe people don’t have time. So sometimes, I miss critics.'
