Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari flew a sortie on a Rafale fighter jet on 9 September 2022. Making it special was the fact that the Air Chief Marshal was joined by his Sqn Ldr Mihir V Chaudhari on the sortie.

The IAF chief flew the Rafale as part of a 3-aircraft combat training mission at Air Force Station Hasimara, West Bengal. The Air Force said that the sortie flown by the Chief of Air Staff and his son is a "continuation of the finest traditions of the #IAF and underlines the importance accorded to grooming and preparing our young leaders for the challenges of the future".

Air Chief Marshal Chaudhari also reviewed the operational preparedness of the Hasimara airbase. The IAF said that the force's chief "urged the personnel to continue their efforts in safeguarding the nation's skies at all times".
