In collaboration with local partners, Google Street View arrives in India

Google Street View : Prevented from capturing data for its Street View services almost a decade ago, Google has now launched the service for 10 Indian cities starting July 27.

The service will cover over 1,50,000 km area across Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Pune, Nashik, Vadodara, Ahmednagar, and Amritsar, as per reports.

This has been made possible because of the new National Geospatial Policy, 2021, which lets local companies collect this kind of data and license it to others.

Google has partnered with Tech Mahindra and Mumbai-based Genesys International to bring its Street View service.

The service will feature 360-degree interactive panorama feature for the 10 Indian cities.

Google paused its Street View efforts in India after objections were raised by Bengaluru police in 2011.

Google Street View is a technology featured in Google Maps and Google Earth that provides interactive panoramas from positions along many streets in the world.

It was first launched in 2007 in several cities in the United States, and has since expanded to include cities and rural areas worldwide.
