The advisory is in effect until 5:30 PM on Wednesday and includes districts such as Gumla, Simdega, Lohardaga, Latehar, Khunti, West Singbhum, East Singhbhum, Saraikela, Ramgarh, Bokara, Dhanbad, Garhwa, Palamu, Koderma, Giridih, Jamtara, Deogarh, Dumka, and Ranchi as per the morning bulletin of IMD.
An 'orange' alert has been indicated for heavy to very heavy rain in Garhwa, Palamu, Chatra, Latehar, Koderma, and Hazaribag from 8:30 AM on Tuesday to 8:30 AM on Wednesday, the bulletin stated.
A similar caution is in place for Palamu, Chatra, Hazaribag, Koderma, and Giridih from 8:30 AM on July 16 to 8:30 AM on July 17.
The meteorological office has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy precipitation in 10 Jharkhand districts, including Ranchi, effective till 8:30 AM on Wednesday.
Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director of Ranchi Meteorological Centre, noted that the state is expected to undergo extensive rainfall through July 17 due to an existing depression and monsoon trough.

"The depression over the central regions of Gangetic West Bengal moved west-northwestward and was positioned over Jharkhand at 5:30 AM on Tuesday ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​. It is projected to continue west-northwestward through Jharkhand and adjoining southern Bihar towards East Uttar Pradesh in the following 24 hours," Anand explained.

The alert has been sounded for Gumla, Simdega, Khunti and West Singhbhum districts, which are likely to experience torrential rain between 8.30 am on Monday and 8.30 am on Tuesday, the IMD said.

"Ansari was the sole bread earner of the family. Two girls are below 18 years of age. So, the administration has decided to admit them in Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Hazaribag," Tudu said.
After seeing the condition of the family, the SDO provided 50 kg of ration and Rs 10,000 in cash for immediate relief.
He said that the family would receive Rs 4 lakh as compensation for each death under the disaster management department. "The document regarding this is being prepared and it will be soon submitted to the deputy commissioner," he added. The SDO added, "We have ordered a survey of old and dilapidated houses in the area in a bid to avoid such incidents."

"The Jharkhand Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution demanding the recognition of the Sarna Religious Code. Yet, the central government has taken no meaningful action. This is not just an administrative lapse but a deliberate denial of the identity and dignity of tribal communities," JMM spokesperson and central committee member Dr. Tanuj Khatri alleged.
The prolonged violence in Manipur, particularly the brutalities faced by women, exposed the government's apathy, he said.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence during such a grave constitutional crisis reflects not only administrative failure but moral bankruptcy," he added.
He alleged that the decision to permit the felling of trees in Hasdeo, Chhattisgarh, unveiled the government's real stance on environmental and tribal rights.
"While it speaks of climate change in global forums, it destroys the green lungs of the nation at home. For tribals, forest and land are life is something this government fails to understand," he said.
Khatri said paper leaks in critical examinations such as NEET, NET, and SSC have become common, adding this is not merely corruption, it is the betrayal of the dreams and efforts of millions of youth.
"Demonetisation was touted as a historic move. But it devastated small traders, workers and the public. Over 100 lives were lost, jobs vanished, and eventually, the old currency returned. Yet, instead of apologising, the government still claims it as an 'achievement'", Khatri claimed.
In addition, he alleged that three farm laws were imposed without dialogue, "leading to a massive farmer movement and over 700 farmer deaths.
Eventually, the government had to withdraw the laws, a clear betrayal of public trust." He also questioned the sincerity behind the women&rsquo;s reservation bill, calling it a pre-election gimmick.
"The government made a big announcement, but deferred implementation to post-2029 &mdash; exposing it as mere rhetoric," he added.
Khatri further alleged that inflation has eroded the purchasing power of the common man.
"Basic essentials like lentils, vegetables, and milk are increasingly getting unaffordable, while the government keeps boasting about fast economic growth," he said.
JMM also accused the BJP of using institutions such as the CBI and the ED to harass opponents, besides running Parliament not by discussions, but by dictation.
"The soul of the Constitution &mdash; dialogue and consensus &mdash; was repeatedly crushed. The nation now must choose, whether to remain caught in hollow propaganda or confront the truth and move forward.
Jharkhand is no longer asking for slogans. It is demanding justice. The fight for jal, jungle, zameen, and identity is entering a decisive phase," he added.

"An exchange of fire took place between Maoists and security forces, in which a member of the CPI (Maoist) was killed," Kolhan Inspector General of Police Manoj Kaushik told PTI.

The mortal remains of veteran tribal leader and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) co-founder Shibu Soren, fondly known as 'Dishom Guru', will be laid to rest with full state honours at his ancestral village Nemra in Ramgarh district on Tuesday, officials said.
Guruji, as he was popularly known, breathed his last at a private hospital in Delhi on Monday and tall political figures and leaders like President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the departed soul there.
Preparations are in full swing for the last rites of the former chief minister and Rajya Sabha MP at his native place in Jharkhand's Ramgarh district, around 70 km from the state's capital Ranchi, the officials said.
Soren, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha co-founder, who was undergoing treatment at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi for over a month for kidney-related problems, died at the age of 81.
His last rites will be performed on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior administrative officials, including Ramgarh deputy commissioner and the SP, visited Nemra to take stock of the preparations.
Special traffic arrangements have been made for the funeral as several political leaders, including Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and others are likely to participate.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom has descended on Nemra village after Guruji's demise.
Before his last rites, his body will be kept at the Jharkhand Assembly premises for people to pay their last respects at about 9 am.
His demise marks the end of a defining political era, one that brought the tribal movement from the grassroots of Jharkhand to the forefront of national politics.
Shibu Soren had been the leader of the JMM for the past 38 years.
As a mark of respect, the Jharkhand government declared a three-day state mourning till August 6.
Most of the schools in Jharkhand are closed on Tuesday, with many ensuring special prayers for peace to the departed soul.
Rajya Sabha proceedings were also adjourned for the day on Monday as a mark of respect, following the death of sitting MP Shibu Soren.
The ongoing monsoon session of the Jharkhand Assembly, which began on August 1, was adjourned sine die following the announcement of his death.
Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato said Soren's passing was an irreparable loss not only to Jharkhand but to the entire nation.
"He was known for his fight for the poor," Mahato had said, expressing grief on behalf of the House.
Shibu Soren's mortal remains were flown to Ranchi in a special aircraft from Delhi.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren, his legislator wife Kalpana Soren, and MLA brother Basant Soren also returned to Jharkhand.
A flower-decked open carriage carried the mortal remains from the airport to Soren's Morabadi residence in Ranchi, with the chief minister and his legislator brother seated beside his father's body throughout the procession.
CM Soren's wife was seen seated in the front of the vehicle, and remarked, "Everything has become desolate...Your struggle, your love, your convictions - this daughter of yours will never forget."

The Jharkhand government declared three-day state mourning in honour of former CM Shibu Soren, who died on Monday morning, according to a statement.
Soren, the founder of the state's ruling JMM, died at 81 at a hospital in New Delhi following a prolonged illness.
The government has also cancelled all its scheduled programmes during the period, the statement said.
All state government offices will remain closed on August 4 and 5, it said.
"The state government has decided to observe three days of state mourning from August 4 to August 6, 2025, following the death of former Chief Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Shibu Soren this morning at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi," it added.
The national flag will be flown at half-mast at all buildings in Jharkhand, the statement said.

One person was killed and three others were injured after a portion of the roof of a government school building collapsed in Jharkhand's Ranchi, amid incessant rain, police said on Friday.
Three persons trapped under the debris at the school at Tangra Toli in Piska More area were rescued and sent to a nearby hospital, an officer said.
"A person was killed when a portion of the roof of a government school building collapsed. Our team is there for the rescue operation," Sukhdeo Nagar Police Station in-charge Manoj Kumar told PTI.
The deceased was an elderly person and was sleeping in the verandah of the school when the portion of the roof collapsed.
He was identified as Suraj Baitha, 65, a resident of Ratu, and worked as a caretaker there, the officer said.
The police initially said one person was feared trapped, but later confirmed that three people were injured in the incident.
The three injured have been identified as Manish Tirkey, Pritam Tirkey and Motu Oraon, all aged between 18 and 19 years, and admitted to a nearby hospital, another officer said.
The school, said to be a primary one, was not operational, Kumar said.
The police are investigating the incident, and further details are awaited, he said.
A local resident said the school remained closed due to poor attendance by children.
Jharkhand has been experiencing heavy rainfall for the last several days.
The state has recorded 71 per cent surplus rainfall between June 1 and July 16, according to an IMD bulletin.
The eastern state received 595.8 mm of precipitation against the normal of 348.9 mm during the period.
