Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah responds to BJP’s criticism over law and order

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday countered the BJP's criticism of law and order in the state following a rape incident at Bengaluru’s KR Market on Sunday night. The victim, waiting for a bus to Yelahanka, was allegedly raped by two men, who have since been arrested.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda confirmed the arrests, stating, “The incident occurred in SJ Park. The complaint involves extortion and sexual assault, and we have taken swift action.”

Addressing BJP’s allegations in Belagavi, Siddaramaiah questioned whether such crimes had not occurred during the BJP's tenure. “Rapes are unacceptable, and women must be protected. Anti-social elements are responsible for such acts, and stringent action will be taken against them,” he assured.

Meanwhile, the BJP has demanded the resignation of Home Minister G Parameshwara, alleging a rise in crimes, including robbery, murder, and atrocities against vulnerable groups, under the Congress-led government. The opposition party criticised the state administration for failing to curb such incidents.
