Bomb threat at Bengaluru school: students, teachers evacuated; police say 'hoax' after search

Panic gripped a school in Karnataka's Bengaluru after an email claimed that a bomb had been planted at the institute. Authorities at the private school noticed the email on the morning of 18 July and immediately contacted police.

Students and teachers were evacuated from the building even as alarmed parents rushed to the school. School authorities tried to pacify the panic-stricken parents by informing them that students had been shifted to another unit.

Meanwhile, Karnataka police searched the school with a bomb squad and sniffer dogs. Police said that the premises was thoroughly searched, and the bomb threat was declared a hoax.

Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnanendra said that police were working to find the person who sent the email.
