Sparking an alert in Delhi, a grenade was found in an abandoned bag in Mohammadpur area on April 25. The grenade was in an old and corroded condition.

The bomb disposal squad was rushed to the location after the discovery. Police personnel were seen cordoning off the area. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for South West Delhi said that necessary precautionary measures were being taken.

Delhi suffered two bomb shocks earlier this year, with the discoveries being made just in the nick of time. First, explosives were found in an abandoned bag in Delhi's Ghazipur flower market on January 14. The incident, just days before the Republic Day celebrations, had caused major alarm. The explosive device had contained RDX and ammonium nitrate.

Then, a month later, on February 17, explosives were found by Delhi police in an abandoned house in Seemapuri. The bomb had been removed by the bomb squad of the National Security Guard, or NSG, in a total containment vessel (TCV), a specialised machine for containing, transporting, and disposing of explosives.
